Question..
Are you launching your kayaks from the ramp because it is easier to drive down to the ramp and unload the truck?
On the North side of Highport, you are several 100 yards closer to deeper water and the islands, but you have to tote the kayak over a small embankment, and rocks to get to a place in front of the breakwater. I have't done this, but it is something I am considering the next time I attempt fishing out of the kayak.

One of you guys needs to go grab a cheap flyrod and reel and snag yourself a lake record. Maybe use a spoon just to rub it in.  Fly Fishing Bass, Striped 9.50 27.00 Oct 15, 2012 Ron Olsen clauser

Big Fish Award is 35 inches minimum. Don't think it hasn't crossed my mind!
