Saturday and Sunday mornings the stripers were schooling right at the dam 6:45 to 9:30 or so. Eating small shad the size of small minnows from the bait shop. Finicky bites, though. Several boats throwing lures Sunday, not much catching. I was able to limit out both days, but only through lots of casting right on top of the boils, and lots of lure switching. Most consistent lure was a Rapala shad rap shallow in a silver/black color (color 113). Like this:

Sunday after I limited, I tried a large silver spoon, pulling it very shallow, had a couple hits right away, I did not have a small silver spoon, but that might have worked. Left to go clean fish, those stripers don't live long in a livewell.

Bottom of that lake should be completely full of brush before too long. Not sure if you can pull up on a point and not find at least 1 on it.

I took a buddy out to the crappie hole I found earlier and fished Sat. morning. It was cold, nasty and drizzled.

We fished till noon and caught a few and had 4-5 throwbacks.
Another of the SLAB crappie too.

The boat problems was a non-issue and I caught a few so I'd say it was decient day.

I have the itch to try for some catfish now.

I fished Canyon Lake yesterday afternoon Friday. I ran up to the dam and fished with no bites. I came back to Jacobs Creek ramp and fished the flats with the double-jointed broken minnow and managed three fish in that one stretch all were shallow, i was very surprised to catch the fish that shallow I bet they were not in more than 3 foot of water I will hit it again this afternoon
