Lost my truck keys while wade fishing out in the middle of nowhere about 23 years ago. I walked that entire pond over and over and couldn't find them (no remote, just keys). I had to walk about 4 miles to a farm house and call my wife to come bring me another set of keys. Needless to say I never put my keys in my pocket again while wading.
I've lost 2 pairs of Costas in the same lake at the same place, both times i was making a turn and looked back (like an idiot) and they flew off my face, bounced off the transom and into the water.
By far the stupidest thing I ever did to lose something was to remove the engine cowling to check something, took off forgetting it was off, and it fell in the water (and I didn't realize it). When I noticed it was gone, I was looking around the boat like "no way in hell I just did that" and like it could be hidden somewhere. I had to buy a new one, about 600.00.

My extremely lucky "Smitty's" [sp] sporting goods cap in 1985. Have replaced it with a moderately lucky cap but still look for it on each Palestine trip:).

Hit a stump up on the North end of Roberts in a spot we cut through many times, lost a lower unit, engine cowling and steering on a Yamaha V-Max.

All of my gear 2 years ago.. The boat I was in capsized all my gear sunk to the bottom. 6combos tackle etc. I was more worried about surviving, replaced the gear. 30mph wind, day after thanksgiving, 40 degrees =cold water
Needless to say I fish out of a bigger boat now
