I thought I had heard he retired . Maybe I was just hoping he had. He still is the biologist for the lake.

NO!!!!!!!!!!!!!!!!!!!!!!!!!!! YOU JUST NEED TO WORK HRD!!!!!!!!!!! When in doubt, go deeper. If a sandbass can go deeper than 50ft. deep, so can a largemouth.

Is this the same guy that put all the fingerlings main lake for sand bass food? I believe one of the local guides offer to run them to the backs of creeks so they would have a chance to survive but apparently the guy was so arrogant he refused...

If TPWD has decided to stock RR again, maybe it will be fun to fish for me again.

I started fishing it when it was opened, and I have fished it a minimum of 25 times per year. When it first opened I fished it every weekend for the first 2 or 3 years. I scheduled my vacations around it's peak times. Thru the years I have been more and more disappointed with the lake as a bass fishery, but I will say this. If I had my choice to go fish Fork or RR tomorrow, I would choose RR. My dad has a trailer and lot on fork but when I go down there there is the most rude people. Ya'll can have it. Now if I had my choice to go to Athens or RR, I would go to Athens in a heart beat. I still fish RR 30 times a year, but at least 20 of those are for Crappie. Like most people on here will tell you it's about timeing on that lake. When it's on you definatlely want to be there. I've fished it with Walling, Lindy, and a few others. They are all gone now. I was with Walling when he decided to call it quits. It was a rough day. I live 5 miles from Eagle Mountain, but I will drive to Ray Roberts before I go there. Rudy Lacky and the guys up there get mad at us when we gripe about it, but it was such a great lake at one time. I blame it all on TPW&D. They experimented with size limits, and bad to none stocking practices and it failed. Failed compared to Fork, Toledo Bend, Rayburn - but I think it fits right close in behind those places. I love the fact that when I'm out there on most Saturday's at 3:00 pm, you can look around and not see another boat, dock, or jet ski, ski boat or any other person up north of Wolf Island. Parks and Wildlife has admitted their wrong doings and lifted the funky slot and started stocking the lake again with bass. In the mean time I'm fillin up my freezer with Crappie Slabs. Hey David ! Sorry If i sound mad, don't mean to.

Rudy, no offense ever taken. I love the lake because I have spent way too much time on it, It's so frustrating becuse of the lake's drop in productivity compared to the way it was. Bruce Hysmiths' experiment was terrible, I guess or I should hope TPW&D learned what not to do over his experiment.

Grass is the key to RR. When we have grass the fish are big and healthy. When we don't, the weights go down a bunch. Still fish to catch, just not the numbers of big fish being caught. That's the key to most Texas lakes. Grass=big healthy bass and lots of them. Without it the numbers and healthiness of the population go down. Plus it forces people to go off shore and most can't get confidence in it and give up.
