October is finally here and is bringing us cool temperatures, and the hybrid have noticed! Lake Tawakoni is currently 8.88 feet low according to SRA this morning. Water temps are in the upper 70's and fluctuating quite a bit throughout the day. This is one of my favorite times of year. The gulls are coming back and fronts are coming through, fish are starting to school again! I've noticed better fishing each day over the last week. This time of year when each front comes through, the fishing will usually slow down a couple days after the front, but then ramp right back up within the next few days. And usually get red hot as the water cools into the low 70's! What I'm trying to say is - we are on the brink of the FALL FRENZY! Lately I've been starting out on the humps and rigging up with sassy shad on a 3/4oz jigheads or Chartreuse Fiesta Slabs from www.moestackleshop.com . Seems like the sassy shad gets less bites, but catches nothing but hybrid, the slab is getting the first come, first serve bite I'm trying to sit in deeper water and watch the hump for breaking water or bird activity. If you pull up on a hump and idle around early before the fish get active it spreads them out and the schooling is much more spurratic, patience is paying off. Later in the day lots of sandies are piling up in 8-12' on ridges and points. Smaller slabs or plain ol Hellpetting will fill the cooler later in the day. Most trips have been meat hauls lately. Be super careful running up and down the lake. I always tell people, if you don't have a gps with a detailed map you better not go very fast. There are areas a mile off shore you can hit the bottom on right now. Tawakoni has lots and lots of shallow humps and long points. You can be running in 35' of water and literally run aground before you have time to come off plane if you don't know the lake. I have a lot of open weekdays this month and next, but my weekends are full up. If you want to come and give Lake Tawakoni Hybrid and Striper fishing a try, give me a call at 214-415-0166 and lets go hunt 'em down! Saturday Fished with a few TFF Celebrities too Meat Haul Mid day trip helping Joe Read and Roger Gray - 250 sandbass and a few hybrid in this pic. All from noon to 3:30pm! Got some more pics and low lake pics I'll load later today.

Fished with a few TFF Celebrities too Well, she's a celebrity to ME! We fished with Matt a couple of weeks ago in about the worst conditions possible, day after a front and a hard north wind. My wife caught this big hybrid early in the day and we caught quite a few more hybrids and sandbass, along with a nice catfish. All were released to fight another day! I know I'm overstating the obvious, but Matt is a great guide!

Looks great, how's it looking for Saturday? Know a little boy that's counting down the days until he gets to go fishing!

I think we're gonna try to fish again this Saturday. Hopefully it's better than last. I really don't like getting towed in and having to swim to load the boat! I'm sure glad Patrick was close when all that went down.

Glad Patrick got ya in safe! When I saw all the birds headed to the shore, I knew the front was about to hit. That was some fierce wind!

I do enjoy a good Squirt now and then.

As always, great report Matt. It was good to see ya Saturday. I swear I wasn 't potlicking you. I was trying to work that hump but my little trolling motor just doesn't cut it in the wind.
I left quickly when I seen the fish stop arching & just held the bottom on my graph. As I was loading at the state park the front hit. Lucky me. No pic's from me. I only kept 3 that were foul hooked. The rest were C&R.

Got my boat back and have been breaking the new motor in today. Found some viscous steel and stumps I've needed to mark for a while. I'll post some pics and cords tonight!
Got them on my Facebook page already
