How about that big Mako that turned 8 or 9 gaffs into tooth picks, I remember having ahold of one gaff handle that fragged. Man what raw power that fish had after being roped and tied to the rail for a 1/2 hour. Most difficult catch I've ever seen as far as getting the fish in the boat.

Man, I remember that one! I was on the rope when Capt said let it all go! That was one pi$$ed off shark.

That flyer swam up - Capt. Russell throws the cast net and just as the net is landing over the flyer, A Large YFT hits the flyer and finds himself in a cast net.... Not for more than a 1/2 second, the net acted like butter... blew to pieces... Never seen that one, ever...

I usually throw them like a topwater but retrieve them with a faster retrieve.

Bobby I found 3 of these baits 1 blue silver and 2 black back & silver with 3 stripes. The hook on them is too weak so I cut them off under the plastic. Then added a split ring to the hook eye and an assist hook on a solid ring that will swing over the back when reeled in. I also have two heavy duty swim baits blue and silver with 3 gill slits Pork Chop gave me back when we caught all our fish on Magaronis. These have serious heavy duty hooks and a jig eye molded in plus they are heavy enough to cast well. I'm going to give them a shot Monday night to see if the YFT still want them?

Also check out Cabelas for the Storm Wild Eye Live Mackerel looks real close... the 6" 1 1/2oz is $11.99 per 4ea but they only make it in a Blue Mac color pattern cheers

Hey Charlie ....

The black and silver was the 'Skipjack' (tuna) design and the only one I didn't do well with. I'm not sure why you think the hooks are too weak. If you have the same sizes I have I've caught a number of YFT on them with no issues. I trust the hook.

But now I'm wondering if cutting the hook off and adding an assit hook might give it even more action.

Good luck Monday.

Can someone explain how the Feds count recreational Red Snapper catch?

Question for you guys in Dallas. Do you know anyone local who can spool a saltwater reel? I tried to call OTI in Richardson but I think they have moved to Corpus.
