Hit Bachman Friday, fished from roughly 11 AM to 2:30'ish, walked the lake from the creek, behind the Embassy Suites, above Lemmon, to the boat ramp by the rowing club, and caught bass EVERYWHERE i threw the lure!!

Ended up with 30 bass, ONLY ONE LEGAL, and one crappie that was so small in must have hatched monday or tuesday!

Rooster tail, ANY COLOR, was the bait of the day. Color did not matter but size did. Anything bigger than 1/8th oz DID NOT, WOULD NOT get hit.
Small bass are thick from one end of the lake to the other. Two reasons: The crawfish population is up against the bank, on the bottom, and the entire lake is one huge gathering of minnows and shad. I tried a red shad 7 inch Berkley Power worm, and almost got the rod jerked out of my hand, but did not land the fish. It was a Bigun! The bass are just ridiculously thick along the shorelines right now, but most are yearlings or younger. For funsies,
Bachman can't be beat right now. The big ones will come in October.

Rudy, thanks for the report. Can't wait to take the kids out there!

Can confirm that the small bass are loaded near the banks actively chasing and feeding on minnows. I even caught a few on a small crawdad imitation. We had a tournament out there Sunday and TONS of 10-14" fish were caught. We had a c ouple of 18"er's and a few 16" in the mix as well. Was definitely alot of fun!

When you walk the banks, if you look a bit, you will see crawfish claws EVERYWHERE! The herons and egrets are feasting on them, and I GUARANTEE that the bigger bass are too! That lake has GOT to have a healthy population of minnows, shad, AND crawfish. It is most definitely chock full of bass.

Did you happen to notice what color the claws were?

Interesting thanks for the info sir! I did have a little luck using a black and red 3" chigger craw when I was out there.

A baby craw might be irresistible!

As would a finesse jig for the larger bass.

I walked the bank from the boat ramp to the end of the riprap this am and tossing a 1/8 oz inline spinner and caught 8 fingerling bass, 1 12" lmb, and 2 baby white crappie. I think fishing closer to the bottom may produce some bigger fish. I worry about c&r survivability with trebles and such small fish. I didn't see any crawfish claws, but saw millions of 1 1/2" minnows and the small bass hammering them at the surface. Didn't see much sign of bigger fish, but I know they are there somewhere. When I go back I'm gonna throw a spook and a finesse jig with a craw trailer. I have never patterned this lake in fall, only ever fished it with success pre-spawn, so I'm eager to hear what y'all are doing.

Gonna try it this afternoon. May throw something a bit larger like a square bill. Ill switch to smaller baits if that doesn't work.
