But now I'm wondering if cutting the hook off and adding an assit hook might give it even more action.

Good luck Monday.

Thanks Bobby I'm sure we will have a blast. I could flex the hook with my thumb and fore finger at the bend... looks more like a bass jig hook to me? Anyhow it is no longer a problem because I will be using an assist hook, I will let you know if it helps the action?

The Scat Cat 56 hour this weekend came in early with limits of YFT and red snapper with the usual other smattering of fish. The YFT limit happened the first night. Poppers were the main bait of choice with fish coming from the jig and chunk as well. Gleaned this information from a report some place else. I hope it works out the same a month from now!

Is it time yet?

Can someone explain how the Feds count recreational Red Snapper catch?

Yeah I hear ya Brian .... kind of a crapshoot isn't it?

I'll be in Roy's and Port A Outfitters later today so I will look for some "bright" or "glow" poppers but I ain't gonna go crazy on em.

Maybe I should wait to see what Charlie says about his trip..

I just got back from the "80 hour" La Pesca Tuna trip with Dolphin docks. I will say that Capt. James and Crew worked their tails off to put us on some serious fish. To bad they are sorely handicapped with a slow boat and limited to tired & worn out fishing equipment. They do their best to make it work. We came in early due to 5 sick folks that could not hack being on a long bouncy boat ride.

I would not worry about color too much, I caught a 50# YFT on a Green Maguroni we lost another YFT that pulled loose on a blue back Maguroni. We had them crash 3 different colors of flyers, Poppers were Sardine, Red Head (Bass Pro) and Green Mac, Dorado, Purple Black (Yozuri) along with others I don't know. so don't get too hung up on Popper colors. If our guys would have been on board there would have been many limits. I broke one off an a chunk that was a beast and had one pull off on my blue glow Frenzy Ballistic Flyer. The BFT seem to favor Green colored "Hopper" longer body style jigs a little more this year.

Capt. James has a personal Avet T-Rex with 100 Lbs. of drag and a super heavy Seeker rod with 250 spectra that we got all those rig beast AJ's on. That 99# AJ pulled 100# of drag before we got him turned. My personal best by a long shot. banana

On a lighter note when we first got to Gunnison I saw a nice YFT jump out of the water right by the rig so I throw my Maguroni near that area and let it sink. A fish picks it up on the fall and line is smoking off my Stella, the fish continued to pull drag a good while after I flipped the bail. We all think I have a jumbo sized YFT on my line. WRONG its a 47# snot stick Cuda but I got revenge for Brian on that one cheers. We pulled up several half BFT carcasses due to the numerous Cuda attacks at Big Gun.

I'm ready for Nov 8th.. lets go get'em again!!
