I just called Toledo Fiberglass also..he said some people will lose RPM's, just like me and others I know. Again...everyone knows what your saying, IN MY boat and MY GorrillaHull, I lost RPM's. I can show you in writing where they say losing RPM can be expected. If you have nothing to contribute..go away, What is YOUR experience with an improved hull? Its clear you didn't explain your case to Al.

FredMan, i never said or doubted you lost rpm's, never said you didn't gain mph. I said your reasoning of why you lost rpm was idiotic. I stand behind that. Cokeman, i understand that if you run the same mph at a slower rpm that would mean less drag. My point was if there is less drag you should not lose rpm at wot. I did talk to al and we agreed on what i told fred on then phone. This has nothing to do with my opinion of gorilla hulls. After talking to al, it seems like a great product. If i ever have the need i would consider putting one on my boat.

I got a gorilla hull 2 years ago on my Ranger. I lost about 200rpm's. and it picked up 1 mph. I just adjust my hydraulic jackplate a lil different now, Oh BTW its one tuff hull.

...RPM is based on how hard the engine is working. if you have more drag force then your motor has to work harder to push the boat therefore having a higher RPM.


1. Revolutions Per Minute
o RPM in cars in an acronym that stands for Revolutions Per Minute. This refers to the car's engine and measures how many times the engine is turning in a minute. RPM tells how hard an engine is working. The higher the RPM, the harder the engine is working.
2. To keep an object in motion in the presence of drag (aerodynamic or otherwise) requires an ongoing input of energy. Work must be done over some time. Power must be used. Recall the following chain of reasoning that starts from the definition of power as the rate at which work is done

3. Replace the generic force variable with a generic power formula for drag

7. or more specifically, in the case of pressure drag

The weight is relavant because this is the greatest cause of contact or displacement of water. Th design of the hull is of course important in gaining lift to free up as nuch of the boat from contact with the water. The reason for pad or tunnel hull design. The smaller the contact surface with the water the less drag & the higher the speed up to flying & blow over.

They do sound tough. When i talked to them, he said they are coming witha video showing how tough. Sounds pretty impressive.

So then why is it that when I am trimmed all the way down....more boat in the water...I have lower rpm's because there is more drag.

Here is a simply explanation when u are trimmed down ur boat has allot of drag which limits the RPMs the motor can put out. When u trim up without increasing throttle u gain RPMs because the boat has less drag now allowing the motor to increase RPMs.WOT is defined by me when ur foot is pressin throttle all the way down with motor trimmed up high enough to max push ur boat/motor to its max RPMs no way u gained speed and lost RPMs maybe ur speed at 5800rpms was 60mph and now h can do that with only 5300rpms but if u were running 5800rpms WOT then lost 500rpms that would be an increase in drag or something else.

When you are talking about gaining/losing a mile or two an hour or gaining/losing a couple of hundred RPM, this could be a result of nothing other than air temperature changes. There are a lot of variables that change performance on a boat from day to day when you are talking relative miniscule changes. It has been my experience that no two days are quite the same.

simple fact is less drag= >rpm and >speed at WOT. More weight could reduce both, but I doubt 30lbs would make a difference. These previous numbers simply do not add up.

Because physics does not allow for your statement to be true.

Gain of speed and loss of rpm's do not coincide at WOT.

Loss of rpm's indicate an increase in drag...gain in speed indicates a decrease in drag.

Are u kidding me do u have a brain??? Air temp plays a huge role in speed on the water last weekend I gained 3MPH in one day because the air temp dropped and the pressure changed. And this was is rougher water than the day before. I don't have a gator hull or gorilla hull but I do have common sense

If your running into stumps all the time I can see how this product could be beneficial. However I dont think your going to be able to sell us on any performance benefits though.

If I read this whole post right, I see three owners of the gorilla hull, and ALL of them say it makes you faster, and is more durable, the rest of you are just people with out one. Im done with this, this is why I don't give opinions, yall attack with no bearing of the topic, or dog in the fight. Unless you have one your opinion is just argumentative.
