Really... I didn't mean to get y'alls panties in a wad. I suppose I should'a prefaced my comment "For me..."

Mine has a Gator Hull from LFF and armor plate would be a better comparison than bed liner. That stuff is HARD!

The real question for me is who will be around to honor a "lifetime" warranty. Toledo fiberglass has been around for many, many years and has a track record. I don't know Mike at Lake Fork. He may be a great guy and do great work, but how long have they been in business and what happens if you do hit a stump, with a "hammer", and knock a hole in the boat. Do I have to claim insurance, or does Mike foot the entire bill?

No the engine is working less to push the boat due to a lower drag co-efficient...less drag=less rpm's. So then why is it that when I am trimmed all the way down....more boat in the water...I have lower rpm's because there is more drag. When I trim up....there is less boat in the water and less drag...I get higher rpm's

He had Mike's Fiberglass for quite a few years then went back to repairing Corvettes for a couple and by popular demand came back to Fork 12 or 15 years ago. I also can say from personal experience you will not find a more honest person than Mike.

I tried to find their website and there wasn't one for Lake Fork fiberglass. He is A+ BBB rated, which is very good. Seems like a website should be standard for just about anyone in business these days. Anyone have the link to their website? Curious about how the warranty works. Is it an insurance claim by me or a warranty claim to them? Prices?

Its simple, no matter how you drive a boat, you will have less drag period. re-read if you get confused.

Mike did our boat and it never leaked again. When I sold it the guy who bought it said he wanted to save the money of having his old Champion done. He lives at Toldedo Bend.

Maybe we could go hammer strike for strike, on each others hull. When we stop we will see the damage and the overall bill....oh wait ...MINE IS 100% covered for the life of the boat...good fishin sir. Yes sir and I can take a piece of fabric and put it over your car windshield and pound the snot out of it and the fabric won't be damaged but my lord tha' windshield.... I would suspect if your boat was hammered on beyond light blows you now have hundreds of tiny fractures in the gel coat. Guess it don't matter if ya' can't see'em... I know I shouldn't but I just can't help myself...

If this topic pisses you off, or makes you feel insignificant , than I cant help you. If you want to know pros and cons great...re-read! MY POINT IS ITS STRONGER THAN A REGULER HULL...WHATS YOUR POINT?

My dad and I had our Chamion 198 done at Lake Fork Fiberglass. Mike is a good guy, even gave me some money off for the gas he had to drain out of my boat. (they turn the hull upside down)
Hit a pretty good stump about a week ago, no damage whatsoever. I definitely recommend Lake Fork Fiberglass.

Well chit.... Guess I should'a done some research before I went n' opened my mouth! But... I suppose later is better'n never.
I sent Al, at Toledo Fiberglass, an email and specifically ask how what he applied to the hull was fundamentally different than the composition of the existing hull. Without revealing trade secrets he got as detailed as he could. Enough so that it made sense. I'm making an assumption here because Al has not had time to respond to my last email but to me it appears the major fuction of the Gorilla Hull is to prevent penetration. This makes sense. If you can prevent penetration in most cases a boat will bounce off of a stump pretty much no matter the speed. If the stump penetrates the hull then bad things happen - real quick.
As for the performance gains. Again a guess... but because of the texture I suspect it is breaking the surface tension of the water and releasing the hull a tad. Might even be creating areation which is even better.
OK... sum'body pass me the salt.... I'm jest about through eatin' this o'l crow!
