But I was just wondering if anybody had tried them. I They have worked in the past, RM had one got took away from him and somebody caught the fish on another boat got his bait. It was one of those Strike King or Tsunami 6" swim baits with the molded in hook and lead head. I have had some good fish chase mine up to the boat but have not hooked up yet. I did loose one to a Cuda in the day time trying pull a Cobia off a rig Just make sure you use heavy duty tuna strong 4X hooks on what ever bait you throw. It really sux to watch them swim away when a hook or split ring fails.

Right I was thinking if the toothy crittters were around that I have a number of those I use for bass and striper and they are a lot cheaper then losing a Flitz or magaroni or ect..

It's worth a shot no doubt. If the YFT bite gets hot up top you can catch them on just about anything that moves. I agree it's a lot better to lose a $4-6 bait Vs $22-30+ if the Cudas are bad.

Swimbaits work . Go to the stern and just drop it Down about 200' and hold on! On a big E trip I used swimbaits as well to get one of only a few YFT caught that trip.

I always carry some swimbaits with me on 2oz, 3 oz and 4 oz jigheads. I don't always try them though. I know they work. My favorite swimbait the I have caught a number of nice YFT on is this one I used to get from mike Newman at Grandad's Tackle. They were only $5 and they have nice action. I usually throw them like a topwater but retrieve them with a faster retrieve. Speaking of Mike Newman and Grandad's .... has anyone heard what the deal is with them? They are only on ebay now and I tried to call Mike but never got an answer.

Have not heard anything about Grandad's but I've been across the pond a while too. I liked their knife jigs, My daughter caught two YFT on them and I hooked something on one that almost spooled me before it pulled free. I think it might have been a Sword I was down about 600ft. Anyhow good jigs.

Yeah Charlie that's their 'Blue Runner' model. I've only had one of those but it got torn up pretty good too. Is Koty still in the Air Force?
