I use and catch fish on both. I like the strike king weightless and zoom for split shot and carolina rigs.

Use Both also. The KVD's are killer bed fishing baits. Great Speckled Trout bait in the Winter too. Mend It is your friend!

Ok..went to Academy in Frisco and got some of the Zoom flukes on sale today for 2.29 and grabbed a couple bags of big bites. I'm planning to fish this weekend so I'll let you all know whcih one outfishes the other.

Not all of the zoom colors have salt in them , that's why some stay higher up than others . As for price being the deciding factor , if your talking about a two dollar difference in your decision making just add up the price of a typical fishing day and two bucks doesn't seem like a lot to pay for the most important advantage you can have , confidence !!!!! I'll buy one less can of Vienna sausages if it means getting the bait I want !!!!!!

Zoom is the only fluke in my opinion.

Just saw a YouTube video where a professional fisherman (at least he looked the part) had the KVD fluke rigged upside down. The hook was in the belly cavity. Googling about this turned up one forum reply elsewhere that said this was a bad idea due to more difficult hook sets.

Any thoughts?

Where the actual hook was pierced through the nose then through the top of the fluke?

See the 1:15 mark of this video: http://youtu.be/GELbFZyuoNI

The tip of the hook is tucked into the belly cavity of the KVD fluke. If it doesn't adversely affect the bait action or hook set, it would be a good way to save on wear and tear from skin hooking.

Maybe because it's a weighted hook? IDK..

I'll never tell. Each has it's application.

I went out at lunch today to test the upside down KVD fluke on my 1/8oz weighted, spring-lock 5/0 Owner hook. Second and fourth casts brought in a 2 pounder and 1-1/4 pounder, so I don't think the fish could tell the difference. But I will say that it didn't seem to extend the life of the KVD flukes. Once the first fish took the bait, it became loose on the hook, exposing the tip. And eventually both baits pulled out from the spring lock.

Oh well, small price to pay for catching instead of fishing!

Well after using them both over the weekend, I caught 3 on the KVD and none on the Zoom. Had a couple of hits on the Zoom but nothing big enough to talk about. I will say, the KVD are normally only good for 1-2 fish but the texture of the bait is more realistic and I still believe the KVD has a much better presentation.
