By the way I live close to that new Academy opening in Flower Mound, I am licking my chops waiting for that thing to open. Hope they put a hurting on Dicks Sporting Goods.

407 (Justin Rd) & Chin Chappel Rd. Just west of the 2499 and 407 intersection. Mmmm Academy in Plano might be closer. Maybe a toss up. Always interesting to go to a brand new store and see how different it might be from other Academy's.

I live about a mile from the new store and can't wait for it to open. I like going into DSG they sell things Academy doesn't and vice versa, I want options on where to go so I like them being close together. I have a customer that comes into my shop that will be working there also, so it would be cool to see him there.

I have noticed this also.. How can you not ? The shelves are looking really thin.. They even stopped carrying the Berkley Power Worms..

They are making room for children cloths, shoes and tennis rackets!!! It is what sells!!! In 10 years they will be back to selling fishing equipment!!!

It is a cycle.

I worked a few days in South Texas this week.

The Academy in Corpus Christi doesnt seem to be lacking. Its got to be the largest Academy I've been in and I've been in a bunch of them. The layout for the Gun and Archery is really nice, off the chart nothing like the other stores. I bet they have a Camo hootus for a hobby horse.

For a saltwater town they had a really good selection of Bass Stuff too.

Its a nice freakin store and I havent seen anything like it Houston.

Thanks, Billy

Academy is one rung up from shopping at the olde gas station near the river. They continue to decrease their amount of fishing equipment every year. I only go there when I need something that they just happen to have. Academy is more interested in selling tennis shoes.

Be safe,

Grapevine and North Tarrant Parkway stores are always excellent. I admit though I wonder why there is not one in Denton.

the only reason I ever go to Academy for fishing supplies is when they have Havoc baits on sale. No other reason to go.
