ok got a hmbd 571 di hd any tips would so be appreciated I haven't played with one of those yet, but keep this in mind, most hummingbird units link chart and ping speed so the faster u run your chart, the faster the unit Is firing echoes, which equals higher detail.
COMING SOON! .. THE STICKLE HOOK " the stay level sickle hook". sits level in the water with all knots.! Provides better hook sets and more natural jigging motion. No more adjusting the knot, gluing , or tying loop knots that cause the hook point to tangle in the loop, or worse knick the line.. The jighook that will make all others obsolete !

they cannot be compared because theyre 2 different technologies. Keep this in mind humminbird down imaging was a program add on, based on sonar returns captured from the side imaging beams used for side imaging . It was kind of a bonus, to the great feature of side imaging, to give and idea of whats there, using downscan. Lowrance uses a dedicated transducer to get thier down imaging. It was also an add on for lowrance, but as a whole seperate module and transducer, like buying a who seperate sonar system in a way. Humminbird does have dedicated downscan units that have a dedicated transducer, specifically for down imaging and its awesome. Technology is somewhat pieced together on both manufacturers units right now, but I think in the near future, one unit will do both things well, with the use of one head unit, and one transducer.. did this answer your question?

Hey Post, do you sell tractors on the side? Just kidding. You said it correctly.

Ive never been much of a salesman, because sales usually leads to misleading folks to sell something because one man will always try to out do the other one, and fudge information. All I try to do here is help explain how the units work. I dont get anything from humminbird, nor do I dislike lowrance, matter of fact, I think I will get an elite 7 in the future as a supplement unit (fresh toy). ha There are some things that I dont like abt humminbird, such as the fact you cant get a good down image only unit, without GPS. All of thier DEDICATED TRANSDUCER downimage units have GPS, with added cost. Thats forcing people who want just di for secondary or front unit to go buy units like the lOWRANCE ELITE 7X.

Hold on there Post, I have DI on the front without GPS and feel that was a dumb move on my part. You need GPS on the front when fishing submerged timber that looks like a telephone pole. Locating would be much faster. So if you want to trade?

have u ever tried a handheld to fins pinpoint spots, handhelds are a lot better than sonar/gps units. A garmin rino 120 will put you on the spot, on the spots. once your in the general area, kill the big moter, hop on the trolling motor, and truck on up to your big fish tree with that handheld.

I have the HB 596 up front and the 898C HD, SI at the console.
Your hand held can't be more accurate than this 898. It is spot on, if you know how to mark it correctly.

an eagle fishmark 480 used to be my partner in crime for a long time, .. kind of miss the simplicity of it sometimes, . Like my friend Jose Wejebe used to say, back when things were simple, we didnt have to make so many descisions and choices, we just went out and fished,.. with all the new technology and knowledge, it becomes a process, where by a person can overthink things, and defeat themselves.
