Anyone fish the surf down on PINS in the fall/winter months? Ive only fished down there during the summer months and am curious if its worth making the drive during the colder months.

Thanks for asking! Me and the fam will be staying at the first condo north of Bob Hall pier during Thanksgiving and I am curious how the fishing will be.

Well btoutdoors looks like we both might be SOL as there doesn't seem to be anyone on here replying.

From what I have been reading it sounds to me like it will be good fishing. At least that's what I keep telling myself.

I'm in the Galveston area, so can't really help Y'all with Bob Hall, but around here fall, winter, and spring is when I catch most of my eating fish in the Gulf.

Around here whiting, sand trout, pompano in the surf, and a few straggler reds and drum can be caught. I would think it is about the same over that way. About the only thing I don't catch in the gulf around that time are spots, I usually have to head into the back bays for those.

Wish I could help Y'all out with more definite information.

If you are in the fall, you should be able to get action with the big reds runs and potentially some flounder in the back bays. I am clueless as far as sharks and other big fish. I could be equally happy dragging whiting after whiting though.

I've got a trip planned in Oct with about 12 friends. It's one of my bi-annual trips to PINS and in Oct. the fishing should be killer. Especially around the middle of the month with the full moon. You should catch reds, specks, trout, sharks, etc. However, just got word that the red tide is starting to show it's ugly face again. This could completely ruin any fishing within 4-6 weeks of now. If the aromatics start blowing, it then get's even worse for us air breathers.

I will be there in Mid October if that which we dare not speak its name doesn't appear. I was down there last year. Drove down to the Mansfield Jetties. It was a stellar trip. This year should be even better with the full moon and strong tides in the middle of the month.

I fish on a 14 ft piece of plastic.

I was out at PINS last October and it was still 88 outside and the water was plenty warm. I've heard fishing between the cool fronts and fall showers brings everything back into action and of course, the beach is yours this that time of year... just not sure what time the fall starts down there since its is so far down, its pretty much parallel to south florida smile

No new reports of the bloody beast. Except for my wife's tide has turned. Too bad I can't go fishing this week.
