Those are Corps of Engineers ramps I am assuming County Ramps remain open (those that are open due to water levels): http://www.cceo.org/road/closures.aspAnd how about Marinas? Is the Yacht Club on the north shore near the dam open for public use? If so, what are the hours? Pray for rain

I did not ask her about barricades on the ones that do not have gates. I found a good county maintained ramp to use, Ramp #6. I figure I would just use that one and not mess with the COE Ramps.

Don't know if this is still accurate but here's a link to a map of the lake showing ramps, who operates them and closure levels. http://www.canyonlakeguide.com/maps/canyon_lake_boat_ramps.htmHaven't heard if the corp is shutting down being on the lake no matter how you get on it. Anybody know or checked?

Just found this on the official lake web page: http://www.swf-wc.usace.army.mil/canyon/Does not say the lake is off limits just the USACE operated facilities. Was wondering as I heard you're not allowed into National Parks.

The COE does not "own" the water. The surface water is state property. The COE does own a lot of the land around the lake, but if there are state/county/private access points to STATE water, I believe the COE would have to allow you on the STATE water.
I'm sure the COE has received direction from their supervisors to close the facilities. Many COE facilities have contract services to maintain them (mowing/cleaning/garbage/etc). Those contracts are likely "on hold" due to the shutdown.
The COE may have also furloughed their federally employed Rangers, and without those folks, if something tragic occurred in their parks, they would suffer liability if they could not respond.

Boat ramp 6 is open. I think its the only ramp open on the south side of the lake. It is run by the county.

I don't know how accurate this is but somebody said at some CoE lakes they're paying guards to stand at normally unmanned posts and turn people away. If true that is the dumbest thing I have ever heard. They are going to try to save money by paying people to stand around and decline revenue. That would be like McDonald's paying their cashiers and cooks to come in and stand around telling customers they can't sell them any food!

It perfectly describes how ignorant the folks in Washington have become in regards to the countries money..
