I heard a rumor this week that a few big fish were lost last weekend at some tourney on Fork, any truth to this rumor?
The story I got was the TD did not allow anyone to weigh big fish in early, and some where held at a marina but all did not survive, sounds like a strange deal to me....

There were only four overs weighed in, I wouldn't call that a bunch only heard of one that didnt make it, I know the guy he said it was gullet hooked and bleed bad and wasn't going to make it anyway.

That's to bad, overs should be allowed to hit the scales early IMO at any event on Fork year round, this heat just adds to the difficulty of fish care..
How big was it Tommy ??

How big was it Tommy ?? I just "heard" about this second hand yesterday, so I do to know what happened, though my source was a reliable one. I was just curious if it did happen, why a TD wouldn't allow overs to be weighed early? We have to take care of those old girls!

My club held a tourney on Fork Sunday. We had one over (8.49 lbs)weighed in. The angler took great care of her and she was released healthy and in great shape. We had only one dead fish brought to the scales (about 1 lb). The guys did a great job. Fishing was pretty tough though.

It was the Mad Dog Moore tournament. I do not know who they used for the weigh in but they used Davids equipment and have done so for many years. It is written in the rules that the scales open at 2:00pm and the line closes at 3:00pm. The MDM has always ran it this way so the fish care is on the anglers until 2:00pm. David has no part of the weigh process other than providing the equipment. If the anglers would have read the rules they would have known. Ice and Sure-Life are a must this time of year and sometimes it is not enough.

They already announced an adjustment for next year. They really care or would change over one fish. Is a great event for a great cause and my hats off to all involved.

We brought Sam's in to Oakridge around 11, I knew I could keep her in the live well until 2, but since it was his PB and over 8, I didn't want to chance it. Ya never know what could go wrong, and yes, I used Catch and Release and had the water temp in the live well where is should have been for the day.

A few Obama supporters here saying someone else should take care of their fish. If you can't take care of your own fish until the designated weigh in don't fish.

From the Mad Dog Moore Board: We did lose one big fish that was gut hooked out of four over the slot fish that were weighed in. In the past, our rules have stated that the weigh-in opens at 2pm and closed at 3pm and we could not change in the middle of a tournament. However, for 2014 we will change the rules to allow any over the slot fish to be weighed in at any time during the tournament. We regret this fish was lost but believe this gut hooked fish would not have survived even if weighed in early. We strive to improve our tournament each year and this issue has been addressed and will be resolved.
