I usually try to get the boat a little wet and use wax as u dry and it works really well and if you have hard water spots or build up Acid magic very diluted works really good and is safe to use on your gel coat but you need to rinse it off with water after you do that. Acid magic will also make your prop shine like new again as well.

I just rub mine along the trees... LOL I couldn't have said it better. A lot of people are talking about wiping your boats down at the ramp, I'm hoping your talking about the staging area, or it that you guys I'm always hollering at to get off the ramp! Of course not. I've never seen anyone wipe their boat down on the ramp.

I keep a spray bottle of 50/50% vinegar and water to just take off any water spots and scum lines at the ramp. Not a substitute for a full detail, but it sure makes it lot easier later.....and it is cheap. +1 And then Lucus Speed wax

I put 2 coats of Pro-tec (Polymer "wax") on the boat then just use distilled water in a spray bottle to wipe off the grime. You have to wait 24 hours between Pro-tec coats to ensure it cures but it applies extremely easy on a clean boat. The Pro-tec has stayed on for more than a dozen wipe downs down with distilled water, which is fantastic. I've used Bass Boat Saver at the ramp with Pro-tec on the boat and BBS will remove the Pro-tec coating. Lastly, distilled water keeps down waterspots, wiping down my dark blue ETEC, no waterspots!!

The best thing you can do for your boat is to store it indoors. The elements are its worst enemy even covered. Mine has its' own house.

For those of you who mentioned Pledge, it will cause your gelcoat to get hazy if you use it for a long time.

Check out Waterview marina on a Saturday or Sunday, there are guys down there that wipe their boats down on the ramp before they have even launched.

Those ETecs are tough, almost as bad as keeping spots off of Mercs. I haven't fished that much out of south and west Texas. But it seems to me the water's a lot harder down there than it is on lakes like Rayburn. You really have to stay on top of it on Amistad and Falcon or your motors will look white after a few trips. .

I dont spray anything at the ramp. Just taking the water line off if there is one. I use BTS at home though and that makes it a ton easier to get anything off of it. Same here

I wait till I get home. You spend the time and energy wiping it down at the ramp then drive through a popup shower or past someone's yard where they can't aim a sprinkler system nozel on the way home. BBS cleans it all up and you only have to do it once. If you can get some buddies to go together order the big size they have and split it, lots cheaper.

I am afraid if I cleaned my boat it would fall apart.

I always wipe my boats twice. Once when I get them and once more just before I sell them. Seems to work well.
