Brian .... I was reading your post on 2cool about rigging poppers and saw your reference to the Albright knot and wind on leaders.

I've been using either the Slim Beauty or the Uni to Uni for years. The Slim Beauty is a great knot for strength but doesn't go through the guides well so I have been searching for a smaller knot and didn't really want to get into wind on leaders.

After a lot of search it appears that the Albright knot is smaller and is also strong. But there are three Albright knots ....Albright Special, Improved Albright and Reverse Albright.

Which of these three were you using? And how about the rest of you guys .... any experience with these knots?

just a standard 40 wrap albright. it has been a confidence knot for a long time, but I have been breaking them in heavy casting
situations lately, so I've opted out. I like the loop to loop connection so much better.
If I had the patience & equipment, I'd probably
make my own, but I dont, so it's BHP Tackle for me.

I use a improved 8-8 Albright for striper I never thought about twisting it more then that.. Are you talking 20 down and 20 up for 40 Down and up?

I'm wondering that too. I've watched hours of videos on all three of the knots I mentioned and none have suggested more than 10 turns. Some have suggested that if you want to you can tie a lock at the end.
