The human body is made up of almost 70% water. Ever heard the one where we are advised to drink eight glasses of water per day? Excluding extreme conditions humans can only live about three days without water.
Having gone almost a week away from the water and without a return trip in sight it's no wonder I'm exhibiting signs of dehydration. Of course the last couple days of normal Texas summer heat may contribute to the irritability and confusion. But still, it's miserable having a crappie fishing addiction and jonesin for a thump.
I'll admit that moderation is difficult when it comes to things we have a passion for, like crappie fishing. To be on or near the water chasing those papermouths every day wouldn't be too much of a good thing in my book. However, it may be a couple of more weeks before I can get on the water again.
Summer is nearing its end and this weekend our local waters will be crowded with recreational visitors and occasional anglers. So I'll leave it to them knowing that very soon the lakes will be given back to us. Besides, Texans are required to throw some lead in the air every now and then. So instead of an aquatic adventure I'll chase those little birds for a day or two.
Limiting the pursuit of crappie or delaying the event should serve to intensify the gratification.
Somewhere between a Breton Fisherman's Prayer
Dear God, be good to me; The sea is so wide, And my boat is so small.
and the Hawaiian dictum
"Lawa kupono, a`ale `anunu!" (Take only enough for what you need, don't be greedy.)
lies the balance anglers who understand our sport might try to maintain.
I'm hoping to get through this metaphoric drought by reading your posts and looking at pictures of fish. Help me out and please post a few. As always, I hope you get to go fishing often and soon!

I haven't bought the new fishing license on purpose. I'll be illegal to be on the water this weekend, thus the crazies can have it.
More than often enough, I have had my fair share of inconsiderate bass anglers lately. Zipping way too close for comfort of where I'm fishing. Now I can understand (although I still don't like) that jet fleas and skiers and tubers would want to hug you and waving; at least their purchase of the boat didn't come with a boating/fishing etiquette. But inconsideration by other anglers? Now that burns me up.
Good luck bird chasing!

You need to make the time and get back on the water after the Labor Day Circus. Down here in my neck of the woods the river lakes will be a lot more angler friendly after Labor Day.
