I was behind a Triton yesterday with a 250XB on it. It had two young kids in it, could not have been more than 17 or 18. I was running 73 on GPS and they were leaving me very easily. My partner said, "Do you see that Triton?" If they can run like that, it must not be too bad to drive. One would't think that have that much experience..

I had an 2002 tr-21 with an 02 merc proxb 250. That was an awesome boat. Great rough water ride and yes it had plenty of storage. Any boat will chime walk that is capable of running high speeds. Just need some seat time and it becomes second nature. The only complaint i had was the oh snit handle kept coming loose from my partner pulling it out. LOL!!!! ^ That was a bad mofo

Triton re-designed them for all the folks complaining about the chine walking issues. IMO, ALL these folks were simply needing to learn how to drive a performance boat. I am on my third Triton, and have been a Bullet owner previously. I have had zero issues driving any of the Triton's. They take rough water well, have tons of storage, and run great when they're set up properly....

I have a 08 TR186 with Merc 150. It is a great boat. It's not the fastest but a nice boat for what I need.

I have a tr-18 1998 model the poster child for chine walk. With the proper prop and jack plate hight zero chine walk. They are a great boat.
One you build and fish with your own hand built custom rod you will fish with nothing else!

Made right next to the rangers so they have that going for them. Last thing I want to do when I'm out fishing is have to "drive" the boat. They have created boats now that you just hold the wheel and it goes smooth and straight till you turn it. I bet they go just as fast too.....

Just my $.02 but I think triton got the chine walk name from their early models. Back then i don't remember cat or bullet or allison being really big. Maybe they were but i cant recall it. Anyway triton was brought in from a racing standpoint, Earl B., to be a really fast bass boat. They were pushed real hard in advertising and caught on pretty quick. But most guys buying them hadn't ever driven a fast boat, most brands were still pretty slow to todays standards. So they got a bad rap. Now that motors are stronger and boats are faster, almost all will walk when pushed hard enough, and everyone realized when you are walking you are running, people have different mind set to them. All that really means nothing but I will add, tritons are nice boats. On my top three list, maybe would be on top if PE didn't own them.

I've got a 1997 TR-17 that's been fantastic and 99.9% trouble free for 16 years. Had to put a VRO pump on the motor a couple of years ago, and my dad cracked the livewell pump by dropping an anchor on it. Other than that, it's been great.

You make a good point but if you are going to run 80 you are going to have to drive it. Made right next to the rangers so they have that going for them. Wait a minute, you were talking about a pontoon boat, right ? Made right next to the rangers so they have that going for them. Last thing I want to do when I'm out fishing is have to "drive" the boat. They have created boats now that you just hold the wheel and it goes smooth and straight till you turn it. I bet they go just as fast too.....

In fact I know they don't.

They must not have much experience behind the wheel of a performance type hull. I guarantee that I can take you for a ride in their boat and it won't chine walk. Its a cake walk when you know what you're doing.
