Actually he caught a 25 something im pretty sure. Mac Weakly caught "Dottie" in 2006 and she weighed 25-1. He didn't turn in the record because she was foul hooked and in California, foul hooked fish can not be kept. In 2003, Jed Dickerson caught Dottie and she weighed 22-11 Dottie was found dead on shore a few years ago

From what I remember, the Japanese fish this guy caught somehow weighed exactly the same thing as Perry's fish.

I could have swore it was 25 something I know Dottie was 25lb and he had actually snagged her off a bed. The Japanese guy said he's seen them up to about 30lbs where he caught that one.

He had that fish for sale a while back. He said that he wasn't happy keeping it and wanted to go after a larger one. He wanted something like $100,000 for the mounted fish. I can't remember where that article was. He was also selling replicas of it.
