My tournament partner has a 21X and its one of the best riding boats ive ever been in. Takes huge water great. Its not the fastest boat but it will go through just about anything. In my opinion, it has just about the perfect layout. The only complaint I have is the small step cooler. It will not hold much and it is not insulated well. Ice lasts a matter of hours in the summer.

I'm not going to get into setbacks and engine heights; I am assuming your boat is set up correctly. The "Triton chine walk thing" is so overblown. I trim the engine until it starts to walk, then bump the trim down till it stops. Yes, you still have to drive them, but Triton is one boat that is easy to over trim. One of the best testaments to Triton's ride is from a buddy of mine that is a Triton Rep. He drives a camera boat at some of the BASS events. The cameramen beg him to get to be the one who gets to ride in the Triton.

Put some left side steering pressure on the steering wheel when trying to run fast and it won't chine walk. You just have to learn how to drive it at higher speeds. Its a cake walk when you do.

The X series isn't as fast. They don't chine walk and they are awesome on rough water. Nice boats. The Tr and the HP will haul [censored] and you have to drive them. But it isn't a big deal once you figure it out its like riding a bicycle.

I had an X2 that would run 80, oh, it did have a 300XS on the back. I may order me a new 21TRX with a 300 XS, you think a little driver input will be needed ? The X series isn't as fast. Probably haven't rode in the new hull designs out in the last few years. They are a solid as any boat out there. Ridden in 2012's and 2013's with guys that have plenty of time behind the wheels. Apparently not enough. I had a 2003 tr20 that was one of the more violent to drive and I never had an issue with it. Took about a tank of gas and I could run it smooth and stable at any speed. And my skeeter will chine was well so it's not a triton thing only. Learn to drive them and it becomes second nature.

I've owned an 02 TR20 for a couple of months. I'm really green so consider that, but I love it. It feels very solid, has tons of storage and hauls [censored] with the 225 mercury that's on mine. I have had to rebuild my alternator and am currently replacing the fuel lines because of the corrosion but that's not a triton issue.
I have owned some I/O ski boats and an older Charger before and I thought I'd just hop in this thing, gas and go. I was mistaken, it's downright sketchy to me at anything 65mph +. Maybe they all are (skeeter, ranger, etc). I have the local triton rep looking into my set up, I have the motor at it's lowest most position on the jack plate and think I might need to raise it an inch or so. I'll 2nd what Furim says about trimming it up until it starts to walk and then bump it down until it stops.
The ice chest placement does suck. And make sure you buy a 20# bag of ice if you want cold drinks after 10am.

I have had quite a few different boats in the years, just got a 2012 21XS from Texas Boat World a couple months back and I am very pleased with it. Not the fastest boat on the water, but none are when I get in it! The 21XS Elite does have all the bells and whistles and I have not gotten the "Chine Walk" that I hear about, but there again I seldom get over 65-68 MPH, just never in that big a hurry.

My buddy has a Triton and it's great. I especially like the back pee steps(the nonskid aft step mats) I don't know what there for other than standing on them and peeing out the back of the boat.

I had an 2002 tr-21 with an 02 merc proxb 250. That was an awesome boat. Great rough water ride and yes it had plenty of storage. Any boat will chime walk that is capable of running high speeds. Just need some seat time and it becomes second nature. The only complaint i had was the oh snit handle kept coming loose from my partner pulling it out. LOL!!!!
