I know, I have been eying it for about 2 years now. Every time I go to academy, bass pro or Cabelas I want to give in but I knew Hobie's were the best (for what I do)

Congrats!! I love my PA12. As far as the heat, it is warm but not too hot to fish. I went to Loy today with two friends (they also have PA 12s) and it was not that bad, and we are old guys. Get out and love it!!

Congrats on that, I agree, what a heck of a "first kayak"! Wife and son and I just got all 3 of our "first" kayaks the past couple of weeks (wife got one first, after much extensive research for a "budget" entry model (totally happy with it)... then bought 2 more at Acadamy clearance prices, couldn't pass them up. BUT then went to Mariner (after each set of purchases) and got paddles and some accessories. After we get used to these and if/when we outgrow them and want "Real" kayaks, we'll be going back to Mariner, great people that want to really help out (we heard about them through their partnering with our DORBA mountain bike group's women's camps). I was worried they'd have "boutique" pricing given the specialization of their store.
I can say after a couple of long weekends shopping at EVERY option in town, there is absolutely NO reason not to go to Mariner for parts/accessories, everything is the same price or better as you'd find at Academy/Sports Authority/Dicks/REI/Sun And Ski (yep, went to ALL those places in one day, LOL), and a much more thorough selection of things. I'm an extreme value and comparison shopper (but I also factor loyalty and customer services as part of that value), start at Mariner and you won't go wrong.

Thanks ChrisTexan for your kind words and congratulations on your purchases, but, I am a little concerned about your use of the words "Boutique Pricing". Although Mariner Sails represents twelve different quality manufacturers brands, we are very competitive on our pricing and we also extend the option to match any reasonable price on a comparable product. Having that large variety of products on hand gives us the opportunity to assist you in getting the best possible fit for your personal use while still working within (or sometimes even below) your planned budget. Unlike the big box stores mentioned in your above post, we are not limited to only two or three models most likely being shown to you by someone who has never wet a paddle. If you add our no cost value added expertise and experience, our sound advice, and our constantly growing variety of immediately available accessories to the mix, you are really saving money in the long run.
I regularly see ads for used kayaks that are very close and sometimes even higher than our new pricing. We regularly have people come into the store, see our inventory and wish they had found us first before making quick purchases at the big box. BTW...we currently are closing out our current inventory to make room for the 2014s. Please give us an opportunity to visit with you before making any final decisions.

Mike, I read his post to mean he was afraid he would find boutique pricing but found otherwise. I harbored the same concern but my fears were unfounded as I discovered on my first trip to the store.
Fish eat things. I'll put things in the water that fish like to eat. I'll attach these things to a hook, line, rod, and reel. How hard can this be?

And not only are their prices very competitive, you get the excellent customer service and a real concern for not only the customers but the customer's family. I submit as my proof: *Mariner Sails, Inc. does not condone applying decals to babies, as it may damage or cause pain to soft, infant skin. Please apply to baby's carriage instead. http://shop.mariner-sails.com/Hook1-Decal-H1-STICKER.htm
