Wow, you guys in East Texas are WAY to spoiled. Griping about a lake that will be 10 foot low? Try living in West Texas where we have lakes that are 30, 40, even 50 foot low. talk to the big guy upstairs, not our fault ...

Big difference ....our lakes are only 30-50 ft deep in east tx...yals are what 100 + deep? You take 10 ft out of 30 ft lake..your left with only deep water by dam.

Try living in West Texas where we have lakes that are 30, 40, even 50 foot low. take average depths as well as the deepest depths and compare them. The lakes out west are DEEPER and have more abrupt depth changes based on terrain around them. A lot of lakes out here are flat and not deep so 10' here can easily be 2 to 3 times as bad because of that. You can't compare lake to lake like that. Besides we all make the choices to live in the area we choose. I share Z522's point of view in that I am glad we have had the chance to fish it for this long.

Isn't Dallas also fixing to get a pipeline for water from Lake Palestine ? City folks need to stop watering concrete so much....or if its yellow let it mellow..lol People like Jerry Jones who have obsene water bills need to have theirs shut off. Few years ago the DMN ran a story on how much JJ and another persons water bills ran a month and it was totally crazy.

I think it would do the lake a lot of good to get dropped that low for a couple years. Imagine all the new growth that would get flooded and nutrients put back into the soil.
As far as the people having a problem with the water being taken, you should have read the name. It is Lake Fork RESERVOIR. It was built for WATER, not fishing. I love it as much as anyone, but I have not lost sight of what it was built for and WHO put up the money for it to be built in the 1st place.
Set the hook first, ask questions later!!!

I love the lake as much as anybody too but the bottom line is that Fork was built for Water Supply. The great bass fishing we have enjoyed for the last 30 years has been but a side benefit.

This is going to get interesting now if they do this. I know the land owners and businesses around the lake can't sue them for removing water but I can't help but wonder if the folks around Fork will try to sue them for property damage because their piers and boat houses are high and dry permanently for the most part, there by lowering property values....... LOL. Look at HAR.com and do a map search of Conroe. The whole perimeter is trying to GTFO. Home owners on the lakes won't be suing once their water drops--they'll be selling. Great time to buy, IMO.

Don't worry guys, I've got an idea. Texas has plenty of oil, screw Canada and lets use the Keystone XL pipeline for a fresh water supply to texas.

LMAO You don't think using over $5,000 of water a month is ok. You can check in the DMN archives and find the article same article had another person who used almost $15,000 of water.
