Hmmm...maybe I better get one of those marine radios.
Where do you get 'em? What do they cost?

Carey is one of the kind!
Carey is more than just a fishing guide. My friends and myself do think that Carey is a friend, a very good friend indeed.
Big thanks to Carey for your services and helps you provide for so many years.

This morning I was in the garage enjoying the cool morning about 6 am, tying up some flies. My plan was to go break some fly fishing records at the lake. I had just finished up my flies and was getting ready to load up the boat and the phone rang. "Where are you?" hmmm Well, I thought it was a different day and clients were waiting at the lake to go fishing. Told them trip will be free and I'll be there in 15 mins. I have only been late to a job 2 times in my life. Hit every single traffic light on the way. Of course. Loaded them up and all the other boats were still roaming around looking for the boil.....

Hit the power-plant point and some small fish were boiling right next to the bank for 15 mins. Picked off a couple mags out of the school and left them to find the main school. Found them busting like crazy at Lavonia and caught a bunch of doubles and some really good big fat fish. One of the little guys landed a 15 1/2 inch large mouth. Very pretty. Dad has the pics of today.

They stopped boiling and capt Larry and I scanned the usual areas but were scattered and not really holding to any structure. So I took the kids to a catfish hole and picked a 17 incher out on the first cast and then nothing. Called it day before it got to hot.

On the way home, I hit every traffic light I came to. Found out i am missing a blade to the electric knife, so i had to clean fish the old school way. That was fun. Dropped the boat off and grabbed a bite to eat and hit every red light possible. -and again on the way back from lunch. -good fishing day, but when I am on land, I'm having issues.

We were the Tuesday clients and were very happy with the results. Carey worked hard to get us on the fish and he patiently helped the 10 year old while I helped the 7 year old. Both boys were excited with the results and have asked when we are going back.

I have never seen someone tear down a ramp truck first before whipping a U turn at the last second like Carey did. It made the wait worthwhile.

As Carey mentioned, here's the 7 year old with his first bass. thanks for a great day Carey.

I don't think the thermocline is going to settle in. If it doesn't, we won't be able to pattern them so we won't be able to catch them. So next spring, there will be a bunch of 2.5-3.0 crappie being caught. Lake record bass should not be far behind.. I have jumped a toad that was 10-12 lbs. Sandies are enormous this year.

Everyone spread out and we looked for some schools fish at 7 am.. Got the radio call the HP was boiling When I pulled up, I saw the biggest school of boiling shad I have ever seen. Ever.

Video doesn't do justice..

It covered acres and acres.. All the bait fish were nervous and 2 mins after the video the water erupted with really nice mags all over the point. Every boat was catching them. 15 mins later, I had to pick fish of the bottom of the boat and do a count. 38 at that point. With fish busting shad 2 inches from the boat. 5 mins later the other 12 nice sand bass were hauled over the rail- two at a time. The boil went on till about 930 am. This was the best boil of the year I think. -home by 10:30 am. Not my record on limiting time wise, but the school of fish stayed put for a couple hours and everyone was having fun. I tied on a swim bait and started to land just mags. -fun stuff.

I agree with Carey that was the biggest topwater and longest action that I have ever seen. Everyone was catching and it was an excellent morning and feels great to be tired and ready to go home at 10:30am.
