Talked to a marine biologist several years ago and said crappie will spawn several times during the spring but in some cases they won't spawn because the females eggs never fully develop and will be absorbed by the female over the next 4-6 months just in time to try again. I just wonder since that looks to be a small sack if that fish is in the process of absorbing the spring eggs or growing new ones.

I think this Fall Spawn thing is a Hoax. That male crappie is using Extenz, Viagra, HGH, testosterone and he is ready for spawn!! But he will be getting a call from the commish.

Todd,
This is my understanding of the egg development cycle from the Texas Freshwater Fisheries Center.
Starting point. Let's say it is a normal spring spawn. However long or how many times that it may take her to spawn. Once a female is completely spawned out, at that point or shortly there after the egg development cycle starts all over again, at a microscopic level.
The eggs continue to develop until the spawning conditions are ideal again, for a spawn.

AMEN Brutha. Some folks usually go whacko around October when they see developing egg sacks - Spawn is on!! Whatever.
