So I gave into peer pressure and went and raided the bait bonanza boxes at my local Walmart and picked up some new stuff, this gave me 2 ideas. 1. I need to completely reorganize my tackle so I can easily get to all of it including the stuff I don't use that often. 2. I am going to try something new with my fishing, I am going to take only a few of my "confidence" baits (not the brand, lol) and will be taking stuff that I have rarely if at all used since I bought them. That way forcing me to grow as a fisherman and forcing me to use all the stuff that I bought. I think I will be building a shelving system for my tackle as well.

Sounds like a plan. Unfortunately I have found that the best bait for any kind of fishing is confidence. A lack of confidence in a bait or location and you will fish it faster and as we all know that is never good. I have found the best time to try new baits is when the fish are really biting. I know easier said than done. Good luck to ya.

lol thanks, yeah I agree with you on the confidence part, but that confidence in a lure or location can be false, causing us to waste time fishing a lure that isn't producing or in a place where the fish either ain't staying at or have sealed lips. I believe that if I consciously make the effort to fish these bait and push any bias I may have to the side that I can gain confidence in some more bait, and in doing so broaden my range.

Man thats all bring in the yak, maybe two of those plano trays tops, and my worm bag. I do cram probably more stuff than most do into those trays but I hate carrying a big mess of tackle.

I go more and more minimalist. The only box of lures I carry is the white utility box shown in the photo. It has a small assortment of topwater plugs, diving and suspending lures, spinners and Roadrunners, a couple of worms, and a few other things. A few colors and sizes of each. I don't want to lug along 2-3 big tackle boxes. If I want to try some new lures, something has to come out of the box to make room.

I need to take some notes from you guys. It might help aleviate the 200+LB load that is my PA... I carry way to much and probably only use 10% of it while I am on the water.

For bass fishing I really dont use anything but soft plastics anyway. I usually bring one tray that had my soft plastic terminal tackle that allows me to rig for multiple presentations, and another tray that has a small selection of a couple of top water, spinners, cranks, spoons, and buzz bait. And of course my soft plastics bag... mostly filled with different kinds of grubs. I fish a lot of grubs. I like the way they swim when you lift them up and let them fall. So do big momma bass...
