Thanks. I just looked at that a little while ago.

That ram mount sure gets the unit up in the air so it should be much easier to see and use. I have mine hard mounted up on extension blocks right over the recessed foot pedal.

Very nice install, looks great, but I did notice your mounting of the trolling motor TD, not trying to tell what to do but you really need to look into one of these http://www.transducershieldandsaver.com/...p;category_id=5

Trust me I know

Agree, if you are going to be near any obstructions or hitting the bottom with the transducer, that bracket is NOT what you want.
This is what you should use:

Helix 12 CHIRP MEGA SI+ GPS G4N, SOLIX 10 G3, Helix 15 CHIRP MEGA SI+ GPS G4N,
Helix 8 CHIRP MEGA SI+ GPS G4N, SOLIX 12 G3, MEGA 360, MEGA LIVE TL , MEGA LIVE 2, Xplore 10

I've already been looking into one. One out back for the jackplate also. They are proud of them that's for sure. It's only money though, right? lol

I've been thinking of getting a larger one too. The 2 1/4" ball 11 1/2" tall unit. That will help for sure! lol

Picked up a transducer shield for the jackplate from a member here. Good price too. I was most concerned with ripping off the aft transducer by nailing it with timber than the TM ducer because of the weak mount I had to fab up with what I had lying around. Plus it was very low.

Now the transducer is perfectly paralell with the bottom of the transom step and about an inch or more farther up than before. I had to make slight modification to the bracket, a little trim and added a new hole pattern, but we fisherman do what we have to do.

Before.

After.

I took off the holeshot plate to mount the transducer. I'll have to see how that aspect affects performance before I make any decisions on modifying it and possibly reinstalling.

Now I just need a shield for the TM.

You should have attached the transducer with either the TS&S or the transom bracket to the center of the holeshot plate.
The plate will eliminate the lines on the left side of the SI view and top of the DI view you get. (Check with a 30' SI range setting).
The SI pulses cover from the water's surface to past vertical under the transducer on each side.
You have made a somewhat good installation worse.
Your left side SI will look like this:

Helix 12 CHIRP MEGA SI+ GPS G4N, SOLIX 10 G3, Helix 15 CHIRP MEGA SI+ GPS G4N,
Helix 8 CHIRP MEGA SI+ GPS G4N, SOLIX 12 G3, MEGA 360, MEGA LIVE TL , MEGA LIVE 2, Xplore 10

You didn't get to see the previous mount in person. Had I hit it on a stump it would not have been pretty.

So with the transducer being at least three inches below the lowest point of the jackplate the lines will still be present?

Like I said I will modify and reinstall the holeshot plate if I need to. I never liked how it was made anyhow. Only one way to tell, take it out and see.

Yes, you will see the echos recorded from the inside of the left side of the jackplate.

So it seems I have a little more work to do to make it perfect. smile

EDIT:

Holeshot plate back on and one more hole drilled for more support. The plate is about 3/16" thick so I had to stand off under the support hole that much.

Thanks for the advice, Wayne.

Replied to your PM, crope1.

Well today I downgraded from software version 6.74 to 6.49. I don't have Ipilot or 360 so I saw no need to have that information in my unit. Many have had issues with sawtooth 2d sonar readings and Si that loads staggered on each side. HB doesn't recommend downgrading past the software your unit shipped with but others have done it and have no issues at all. I suppose HB has their reasons but I don't know what they are.
