go to the wylie corps office and tell them were you want to fish and park, ask them where you can park with out getting towed..
I was there yesterday morning early at daylight..My wife dropped me off at park entrance and came back at 10am and picked me up.
It was 81 deg at 6am yesterday.By 10 am it was 96 deg..
I was after sandbass fishing the points at Lavonia wading out knee to waist deep.I caught a lot of baby shad about 1/2 " inch long..
They were in large groups at shore line early.Castnet catch bait, place in floating minnow bucket.fish points before rocks at dam..caught a lot of sand bass 8"--10" on to..big schools..larger sand bass deeper below small ones 12"--15" mid point knee deep--to waist deep-- then cast out about 30 yards no weight,no float- 8# test line on small treble hook with baby shad..The sand bass were almost every cast..I caught a lot of sand bass...And then the catfish moved in..so I caught them too..I was able to catch 17 nice sand bass 14" each..let the other go free..I did keep the channel this time..6 channels and one blue..The cats would hit the baby shad as it was falling..The baby shad died fast..catch them put them in bucket in water..dead..so I fished them fresh dead hook through the nose/lips..

By 930am the fishing slowed way down on the point as the temps went up...by 945am the fish were gone.Get there very early or right before dark..so you will not have much bank fishing time--- so make it count.I hear the san bass are out the power plant too.Have not tried there in the heat yet.It is going to be very early morning there too I would think.Good luck...

I really appreciate the info!!! After looking on Google earth, it looks like I could go in 6 when park opens and park just north of the south ramp and walk down. Today was first time back at lavon in 10+ years.

I never made Sunday. Had to end up working all day. I am trying to make it back this weekend, just hoping they will still be there and as long as I don't have to work. It just hard to go all the way to Lavon sometimes when I live in N. Carrollton. Ready for the sandbass to be back on at Lewisville and within distance from the bank since I don't have a boat.

FYI they closed the road to below the dam. No fishing there at the moment. People were walking the river trashing it really really bad. No water there anyways. They drain a bunch out to fix stuff.

This time of year they used to have big gar below the dam in the shallow water. You could see them hit the surface trying to get oxygen stirred up.
