I'll give it a whirl just for the heck of it. Let ya'll know how it goes. I love cut shad but, am just a little on the lazy side so this could be blue catfishing nirvana for me. Look for an update Saturday.

Thanks for the info Tom. I haven't ever used it, just wondering if it was legal if it was from the store. Might try the salmon though.

Kozy kitten cat food in the can or any ground fish oily cat food in can works GREAT..! Open the can.. a spoon scoop of oily fish cat food... go to walmart when you get your fishy cat food and go to the wedding area..buy the little hosiery net little rice/bird feed bags (you know the ones they give you at weddings to sprinkle on the bride and groom that have feed in them) place a large scoop of oily fishy cat food packed in the bag and tie/close it up with strings on the bag..you hook your treble hook in the bag..the food stays in the bag for a long time and leaves a good fishy oily slick..the channels love this stuff.!

Well went out Friday night for a while. But forgot to get the salmon. So I had to throw the cast net about 50 times to get enough bait. Worked out though caught a nice mess of fish. Still think I will try it soon though.

Well tried the salmon bait as promised. Seemed like perfect opportunity. As stated in the original post. It was suggested that someone might use this bait when the bite was slow. So I was out doing my usual thing and the bite was definately slow. So I figured what the heck let's just see what happens. Well I have to say you can catch catfish on salmon but it took some work. The stuff was so delicate it was really hard to get it to stay on the hook. And it ain't no miracle bait IMHO. Kept a hook baited for couple of hours and got a few light channel bites before finally catching a little dink. In the mean time the cut shad put 9 nice blues in the box. So overall I will have to rate the salmon for catfish bait at about a negative 2. So that's my experience. Think next time I will just eat the salmon.
