You can call Mike or Shaun at mariner sails, in Dallas. They will take good care of you.

I'm 6'2" 250 and have a Ride 115. Great Yak for lakes and rivers. I also have a Perception Search 13 that I'm considering selling. I would recommend talking with the guys at Mariner Sails.

Mariner sails will be able to take care of you with the Wilderness Ride series yaks. They carry both the 115 and the 135. Given your "specs", I think the ride 135 would be a good fit (I used to own one and I'm 6' 240lbs). Mariner also has paddle days that they do every so often at White Rock and if you talk to them they can get you set up to get on the water and test paddle.

I also bought the FS128T from BPS. You can paddle 3-4 mph. Tracks straight. First things to do is : get some sealer & reseal all the hatch's (they will leak)This was fixed with waterproof silicon around the lip of every compartment. - then retighten or change the screws & bolts on the seat (they will come out)!! USE SOME LOCKTITE The front rod holders are of no use to me, but maybe when I get comfortable and start standing I'll be able to take advantage of it. I discovered the boat had bowed at the large rear storage compartment, More sealer & putty ! The foam blocks inside the hull for deck support do not stay put. Can't even begin to reach the flush mount rod holders on the bow so have now idea why they were put there. Also, the rod holder to the right of the seat is in the way! The kayak weighs 96 lbs with the seat !! I would give it a 4 out of 5 !

I think there are a couple of outfits that have kayaks that you can rent down by the Trinity, behind the Radio Shack building off of Taylor. I know Backwoods has a few of the Hobie mirage kayaks down there too. I would rent or demo a few before deciding. I demoed a couple and ended up with a Outback from Hobie. A little pricey but well worth the money.

I'm 6'1" and 240 I am new to kayak fishing. I just bought a field and stream eagle talon 12 from Dick's. Reg price 549.00 on sale now for 399.00. 400lbs rating comes with lots of added features. I have had it out several times now and I absolutely love it. I have found one problem and that is the stock seat is not that comfy for a long day on the water but can be replaced inexpensively. after the 10% discount for opening a Dick's account I paid a total of 389.00 tax and all out the door. Oh and I got 30.00 cash to spend at Dick's with their reward program. I don't have any experience with high end (expensive) kayaks and thanks to the eagle talon I probably never will. I was able to get life vest and paddle 15% off with the kayak purchase. I spent less than 500.00 and have everything I need. One more thing, the folks at Dick's were very helpful, which as we all know is not always the case.

I'm 5'9" and 300lbs. I have an Old Town sit inside which I really like. My problem is my rear starts hurting after about 1.5 hrs. of fishing. I plan to resolve this issue by buying a 12ft. NuCanoe. It is a sit on top 2 seater rated at 650lbs. It's 41" wide and you can stand up and fish or shoot in it. It also will allow a 2.5 gas or electric motor on the back. It has a lot of accessories to meet most of my needs. Don't get me wrong, I really like my Old Town, I just want to be able to stay off the shoreline longer and I think I can do this with a stand up yak.
I would rather die finding out there was no God than die finding out there is.

The FS12 and FS128T are two different kayaks. The FS12 does weigh 65 lbs. while the FS128T weighs in at a stout 83 lbs. both are nice feature rich yaks for the money, IMHO.
