Do you get hard hits and no fish? They are hitting your flash and not the bait Big fish are more reactive then given credit Creditable scent catch's in the higher percentages

Catboss you should know how big a caffish mouth is a 6/0 circle hook is small... Half inch to three quarters of an inch of beads to your flash and vibration with such an aggressive take down I call it an "insta hook set!" you just got to make sure you grab your rod and apply pressure before the kitty turns on ya and heads for the boat!

Besides that catboss what do you think I'm running a bare hook on this rig? Some sort of cut/live bait. So there is three main options of attraction combine at once that stimulates a catfish to feed smell, vibration to its lateral line, and sight.

Exactly why I don't use circle hooks Why? Bc a 6/0 is small? What about an 8/0 or even 10/0 circle hook bought from the manufactor that makes gamma hooks? 6/0 hook calls for that rig that has worked great for me that I was trying to share with some folks.

Wont argue your point(s)on circle hooks If they work for you and you catch fish then please carry on Ive pursued PIG Flatheads and King sized Blue cat for over 40 yrs the majority of which precedes circle hooks and I dont fix what aint broke. My directive was at the "mouthing" notation and nothing regarding your methods

If you CPR "trophy" blue's, and want to prevent deep hooking fish, CIRCLE HOOKS are a MUST! I know there was a thread asking circle vs kahle hooks... the advantages of circle hooks are: they are stronger and sharper and once set itself fish stay on hook but easier (relative to kahle hooks) to unhook fish once you landed fish, so you can release it back in water sooner, the less time fish stay off water (especially in hot weather) the better chance it will survive after you release it. I'm a hard core "old school" but ain't afraid to adapt new things if it can help the fishery... I use octopus hooks for scaly fish, but circle hooks exclusively for catfish, CIRCLE hooks just work best for tight line catfishing, period. ![fish fish](/forums/images/graemlins/default/fish.gif)
The pursuit (where are the fish), rigs design and setup, scouting, the awesome feeling of casting your rigs 100+ yards out, the total focus on the fish and the elements, the outdoors... the total exhaustion at the end of your fishing day,... the cooler full of fish to bring home... Yeah, I'm going to miss bank fishing!
