Ok.....had an issue with my HDS10 Gen2 the last two trips out. Let me give you a little background first: -The firmware is up to date with the latest one posted. -I usually run my SS on 800khz -I don't have auto range selected on any reading -I haven't changed any settings in months prior to these issues 2 trips ago, while I was running a split screen with SS, map and 2D, the 2D shot to 500ft deep and hung there. I rebooted the graph 3 times and it finally corrected itself. Last night when I launched, the SS never came on. That side of the screen said "no source". I unplugged all my cables and put them back in. I turned it back on and it said "no source" again and stayed that way for about 6-8 minutes and then started working. About 30 minutes later the SS side of the screen because very hard to read. The screen was very dark.....like when you are scanning really far out either side and the deeper the water the darker it gets. I changed it to 455khz and it made it slightly better but 800khz was un readable. I was in 6-8FOW and it was set to 30ft. At the same time my 2D started reading 700ft deep. Again I re-booted it 2-3 times and it never corrected the issue. Tonight I turned it on for about 5 minutes and the issue wasn't there. What could be causing this? I took a screen shot and you can see the difference where I switched it between 800 to 455 and then back to 800.

Occasionally when I power on my HDS it gives me the 'no source' message but, it works fine regardless. But, your problem sounds like something more serious. I'd call Lowrance, you may need to send it in.

Has anyone else experienced this? I guess I'll call Lowrance and see if they have any idea

I'd buy a Point 1 in a heartbeat if the Gen 1 HDS would support it and I know some others that would too.

I'd buy a Point 1 in a heartbeat if the Gen 1 HDS would support it and I know some others that would too. From what I understand it will work as a GPS antenna on the gen 1's and give you a EPE of 10-12ft. They say its an awesome antenna. I keep thinking about getting one now that they finally figured out how to get it to work properly.

what exactly is a point 1....who is it sold by Made by Lowrance, it's a GPS antenna that updates 5x per second and is also a heading sensor. So if your sitting still (say drop shotting) your graph won't go nuts and spin in crazy circles, it'll stay just as your sitting.

My HDS 10 use to give me a "no source" every once in a while. Talked to Lowrance, and they had me send in the LSS box. Got it back in a week and all was fixed. They said they had to do an update on it, that couldn't be done thru the downloadable updates.

For those with rangers is your LSS transducer on the jackplate or under the setback? Did you have to mess with the angle at which it sits? Mine is mounted under the setback. No wedges or anything added. Perfectly clear picture.

As previously posted: I purchased a used LMS 332c. I just disconnected the old Lowrance 125 I had and plugged the new unit in and the sonar worked great. I thought I just needed a "GPS puck" to make the GPS functional... but, I was wrong again. I needed a puck and a cable. I did get a puck from a TFFer in Gatesville and am quite thankful to him for offering it up at a very reasonable price. Unfortunately, the puck doesn't connect directly to the Sonar Unit, it has to be networked. I have spent some time searching for a cable. New "network" cable can be purchased from Lowrance at a cost of about $150. Way too much. Also the cable parts I need are classified as obsolete by Lowrance. But, I think I have stumbled upon a possible solution. It is called "Lowrance's simplest network." This graphic is for an LMS sonar unit and a LGC 3000 or 4000 puck, but I have been told that it will probably work with a LGC 2000 as well. What I don't need is 15 feet of cable. I only need 6 inches or so with inline terminator MALE network cable connectors on the ends (see diagram). I have talked to techs at Lowrance about finding some used cable with the BLUE network male connectors on them, cutting them off and splicing the cable together. The techs seemed to indicate that the cable might/should work, but they questioned my ability to splice the cable such that it would function. I don't know... maybe and maybe not. I have no idea what the inside of the cable is comprised of. I guess another option would be to whack the female connector of the end of the puck's cable and attach a male connector, then the puck could be connected directly to the unit, which would be great. I just would hate to risk destroying the puck by cutting off the end and then finding out that it doesn't work. I would like to try the additional piece of cable first. The end deal here is that I would like to try it. If you have some old Blue network cable you no longer need... (hey, you might have actually purchased a sonar/gps unit with an internal gps antenna, a novel idea) and would like to help find out if this idea will work, contact me and we will work out how to make a deal. This is a low budget deal. I have been working on this for a while. It is now a curiosity as much as anything. I am using the unit on the front of my boat. I have a very nice unit on my dash with an internal GPS. I just want one for the front for working offshore structure.... If I can get one inexpensively, great, if not that is OK too.

Question:
When I record a file on my HDS 10 and try to play it back it only plays back the 2D sonar. I record all three channels. I can play it back on my computer using Lowrance's sonar viewer and see all three channels. What am I missing?

When it goes to the sonar screen to start playing look/pull up the menu and you will see the word "primary" in the menu boxes. Highlight that box and change it to read- down or side.

Chris.. Here's a post I left on the BBC a few months ago: not sure if my problem was the same as yours, mine said NO SOURCE.... the fix... try turning the AUTO setting off, then adjust to manual depth. After a few minutes it will reset itself and work again. then can turn it back to AUTO.. See this article to understand it better: http://doctorsonar.com/pages/auto-range-solutionHope this helps!
