I have just completed a 2 year project on a 1983 Cheetah bass boat. I have heard that the Skeeters Owners Tournament has a vintage class.... anymore of these around. It is a little intimidating to head out to a tournament with all of the guys with wrapped, and sponser logos plastered all over. I know I am not the only Old Glass guy... any takers, this could be fun!!! Andrew Care to see the work, hell lets see all the "oldies" Post your oldies!!! http://s711.photobucket.com/albums/ww119/covershop1906/"Why not restore, they do it with cars!!"

Looks great! Here is a old skeeter I got from the original owner and slowly restored.
The day after catching a lot of fish is still a good day.

I was told by Grover the old guy I got it from that it was a 1952 boat and a 1958 10HP Evinrude I have verified the motor is a 1958 and runs great.
The day after catching a lot of fish is still a good day.

Nice boat oldglass. Did you have it recoated? Just curious what the price for getting a boat recoated is? Got a 1985 Ranger that will need a coat or two in the near future.

Negative, recoated is not really an option on an old fiberglass boat... auto clear coat heavy flake.... not to bad. Is your's just discolored and yellowing.... Options are limited by your imagination. You could sand, wetsand, and just a couple coats of clear and it would look great. The hull of this boat was in pretty good shape, so just clear, the top hull was terrible.

My 1967 Stemco Super Skeeter with the original 1967 Johnson 40HP and everything works. It was bought new at Barber Boats in Dallas and I still have several of the original manuals.

Those are some nice old original Skeeters. They are truly vintage.

1978 Skeeter Wrangler Was going to fish the skeeter owners tourney at fork in the classic division, but a broken steering cable stopped that dream.

How long 15'6 or so..... you could have fished the tournament still, as long as you went STRAIGHT to your hole...... lol.. Luckily not such a bad replacement.

I was told by Grover the old guy I got it from that it was a 1952 boat and a 1958 10HP Evinrude I have verified the motor is a 1958 and runs great. Your boat is from 1961 and later. Until 1960, Skeeters were built from Mahogany plywood. Holmes Thurmond the original builder/owner sold out to Stemco marine in Longview in 1960, and they came out with the first fiberglass Skeeter in 1961 I believe.
