Hey TexExp, do you ever jig from the boat with the 10's? If so, what is your opinion on jigging them VS the 8's?

I have fished the 8ft ProAnglers and I have to say...I like them for jigging work. Seems like you can improve your daily catch by one or two fish a trip. I guess I will have to buy a couple and see how long I can keep them together.

Another good thing is that you can buy replacement tip sections and not have to replace the whole rod. A couple of weeks ago we broke the tip section on one of our 8' rods (accident not from a fish). I ordered a replacement for $17 including shipping on Sunday and had the replacement on Tuesday.

We have a spot up here on Eufaula Lake in Oklahoma where the hogs are shallow in the brush in the heat of summer. I just got back from there where I used my 8' rod and it outperformed everything else I tried. Very responsive and easily lifted 15" slabs into the boat. The area is almost a jungle and I could have used a little more reach for dippin and pitchin so I immediately ordered a 10' model when I got back. If it's near as good as the 8 footer it will get lots of use.

TreeBass, tried going to the first link on your signature. Keeps coming back as a gateway error.

Funny you should say that!! grin
Was fishing with Tommy last evening. I got hung in a BP. I tried pushing my rod tip down into the BP to knock the jig loose, but no joy... So I had to break the line. Little did I realize that by messing n the BP, I loosened the tip section and I came up with 1/2 a rod.... bang

As I was rigging another rod, tommy says, "Hey look!! The tip floats!!! clap

Got my tip section back and kept on fishin'!! woot

Although I haven't used Pro Angler rods - I do like the 2 piece rods in particular and have several that I use regularly. I don't think most people will notice a lack of sensitivity in a 2 piece versus a one piece rod.

What I like about them, besides the sensitivity, is they are tougher than they seem, they are really light and I have ALWAYS prefered a cork handle. For all those things to come i a package at this price, ya simply caint beat it.
Only exception is for catfish rods and for that, I prefer UglyStiks.

When you get used to your 8 footer, move on up and get you a 10 footer and you won't ever touch the 8 again. The 10 foot rods of course give you more reach but they pretty much are the same weight with the extra 2 foot, and you don't even have to crank the reel to land a fish. I love my 10 footers and can handle them quite well so I thought I might try a 12 and that rod is way to heavy to vertical jig with I think I tried to use it one time and just too heavy of a rod, But all and all you can't beat the 8 and 10 footers they are simply awesome and make crappie fishing a blast to me!!!!

Thanks JTodd as after 3 days of use I had gotten on to ask about the longer rods. Figured those 10' rods might be to flemzy but I am going to get a couple for some perch jerk'n! I can sure enjoy no reel'n and quick release to get right back in there for another! Get'm while their thump'n. Got out early this morning. Wear some sunscreen. I forgot today and it's not pretty!

Hey yak-caster, just thought I would let you know that you figured wrong about the 10' PA rods, not too flemzy at all. Can pull a 2lb slab over the side of the boat, no problem. Have you seen the 50lb+ cat caught on their website? Caught this on a 10', didn't pull him over the side, but still, had plenty of backbone to land him!

That's Oscar my buddy and that flatty was more in the mid 20# range. But hell yeah that was a nice fish. If you take in consideration that he was jigging for crappie that is a rod with plenty of backbone coupled with just enough play. Hadn't really thought about that catch in a while as I think I saw the video immediately after it happened. Ty for the reminder. I'm sold.

This is the info I was wanting to know...thanks I have a nine foot jigging pole, that I just love for exactly that reason (Ugly stick), and was leaning towards the longer one, but all I have tried is the 8 footer and I liked it for boat jigging duty...just wondering if the ten was as good without being ungainly....Thanks for the help.

There are definitely some of those longer rods that I do not like...too heavy, flimsy, ungainly, etc.,
