Hey y'all!

Been busy fishing these past few days....

I've managed to log over 60 miles paddled these past 5 days alone and im beat to hell but it was well worth it ...

Thursday I took advantage of a weather window and made a rig run with my buddy Hunter...

We launched for the MP rigs around noon when the surf should have been dying down....

It was a tricky launch but we managed and were on our way...

The water was still dirty brown a little past the 4th bar and a sandy green all the way to the first rig...

The cold water current was visible as it was kicking up the sand under the first rig...

I sabikid some bait and started fishing...

The day brought mostly sharks but we werent complaining..

Here is one of mine...

Hunter lost 2 Big sharks that were towing him pretty quick....manged to bring one to the yak...

We called it a day and headed on in...

Friday I woke up to try my luck again ....my buddy Dallas joined me for his first BTB trip...

Here is the crew launching out..

We hung around the first rig for a bit with nothing really to show..the current was still kicking up sand and seaweed was scattered around...

We made the decision to paddle out to the other rigs....

Upon arriving to the last standpipe a small pod of smacks were busting up...and they dissipated fairly quickly...

It wasnt long before they returned but it slowly grew into something different..

Sharks were on top trying to grab a smack and Bonita were also in the mix...

I managed a smack on a jig ...we chssed the bait ball to the big rig and i tried to get a bonita ...cast...THunk...DRAG!

My line was ripping...after al ong fish i saw that i had a king on my baitcaster...but her managed to shake me off at the kayak...things calm and we start to trolll and my live bait gets hammered but no hooks...*sigh*

Eventually i run into cliff and we decide to chase the bait ball to the third rig...i get there with bait blowing up all around me...cast...thunk...DRAG!

Again i knew i had a king on the line and the beast is in my arms after a long fight on my Lews baitcaster

A boat that was bottom fishing at the big rig decides they want in and shoot over to the massive baitball and everything just stops....they are gone...

I look around and see cliff set the hook and eventually land his second king...

We decide to get back to the big rig after drifting so far away....

on the way my buddy dallas finally has a hit but he is a little slow and it lets go...then slowly my reel starts clicking and i set the hook...peeling drag followed...

After a bit of a fight my second king hits the kayak...

and back he goes!

We decide to give it one more shot around the rig..i wanted him to get a king...

we are paddling past the rig when i see a violent hit behind dallas' kayak and a big BIG king go airborne on his rattle trap....

the fight it on and it was exciting to see him hook into his first king

but like we all know too well ....sometimes they just get away...

this is when it found the line and cut him off

soon after our silent shock of what just happened Topdog comes up with his king!

MP rigs were on fire!

We called it a day and headed in..

That night i loaded the truck and started the drive to my gals lake house on Lake buchanan...

Last year was the first time i fished it and managed a decent catfish..but this time i wanted more diversity and more catching..

We didnt arrive at the house until 4:30 AM...so naturally i set my alarm for 6 A.M. because fishing ...

The lack of sleep was worth it as I managed my first white bass on a jig in open water...

Robert and I hit the water in the afternoon to find some more...

The Sunset was amazing over the lake...

It also brought a crazy bite...white bass were busting bait up all over for a solid hour... I was pulling in doubles at will...

We were still catching them on spoons and tops even as it got dark...

This morning i woke up at 6A.M. to heavy rain and lightning so I finally got to sleep in for a bit...

We hit the water around 9AM...I wanted to add more to the list of fish for the trip...sandies are fun but dont fight much....

I troll around for a while without much of anything when i finally spot something sitting shallow....

I get closer and can tell its a carp...i heard they wont hit lures very well or at all so i tied on what was basically a slightly heavy fly...

First cat he hits it and I have my first ever carp to the kayak

I was pretty pumped but wasnt going to stop there....i tied on a white crank bait and started to work over rocks and ledges...finally i get this sucker to hit

I am told small mouth, large mouth, and black bass are all in this lake so honestly im not sure what it is but it was awesome to catch...

Next cast i get that magical thump and pulled in what i think may be a Hybrid...little help here..

I made one more attempt in the afternoon for that striped bass...i lost a monster largemouth by the kayak and that was about it...packed up the truck and drove back home...

Sorry for the extra bad spelling and grammar but i'm running extremely low on sleep but it has been well worth it...ill be back out offshore as soon as the weather lets me..

Till Next time...
Life is Good...

Dude, epic report. EPIC kingfish up there.

I'm heading down to the coast this week bro. Are you going to be hitting MP on Thursday/Friday if the weather permits? I'm going to hit High Island/Crystal Beach over the weekend, but am debating heading to Corpus for Thursday/Friday. If you'll be hitting MP and wouldn't mind me tagging along, that looks like a blast...

Outstanding - thanks for posting.

Hybrid and Spotted. The LMB and spotted are a bit harder to differentiate at times. This is a good comparison of differences:

Maybe 2 hybrids. The one is at least a Spot and maybe a Spot X Smallmouth.

Great report! That's a lot of miles but it appears to be all kinds of worth it! You rock, dude!

Nissley's recommendation for a natural high: kayak fishing

Now that's a salty sweet smorgasbord of fishy goodness!

I agree with those who say hybie and spot for those last two... Really confident about the spot not a bad sized one too...
