Crapicat,
I use both the 8' and 10' depending on who I'm fishing with..... Sometimes I need a longer reach. bolt

The 8' rod weighs 4.2 oz and the 10' weighs 5 oz, so you won't find it unwieldy.

Put a BP XPS rod balancer with 6 quarters, and the 10' just floats in your hand.

Somebody asked on our home lake forum, "why" we like the PAT (Pro Angler Tackle) rods, so I thought I would copy it over here. Some of this has already been said from guys who have them in the above posts. For us in the DFW area, PAT - Ed is a local guy, home grown small business, shop out back. We love to support the little guys making a go of it! Not to knock Strike King, BPS etc., just kind of a dream to do that... so we support Lane, Josh, Robert, Ed and all the guys that are making a go of it! They make quality stuff or they are not around long! LOL

So tell me more about why these rods are so good?

that's a really good question...
Let me count the ways

These rods have been perfected over the years using feedback from very successful crappie tournament fisherman (Jerry & Paul) and from guys like us
The PAT rods have just the right balance of strong backbone, sensitive tip and light weight
The PAT rods are quality made with attention to the details of the rod eyes, wrap, EVA or cork handles... all of it.
They worked at making each length 8', 10', 12', 14' (and coming soon 16') the optimum balance of weight, strength and sensitivity
------- the first batch of 16' are already spoken for - Grenada is coming! woot
All PAT (Pro Angler Tackle) rods [and Bee Ready rod holders too] are Quality product stood behind by local guys Ed and Bob (and Paul).
Ed lives in Lucas and has his shop on his land there. You can call or stop by anytime and talk to Ed and/or Bob.
You won't find near the rod at any where near the price! I am still amazed at the price point for these rods.
------ I own ten of them, so that was a very big deal for me.
When I started spider rigging, I used any old rods I had. Big mistake. I learned the hard way that quality and consistency make a HUGE difference.
there's probably more... but I just can't think of it right now. thumb
