Piscator... yeah im originally from broken bow ok, our lake is 160 ft deep with flooded timber. You can always go and find them any time of year. Deep ledges, rocky banks, timber, more cover than a man can fish. Trust me i get to hear about from my dad every weekend. Unfortunately im out here in Abilene, and the lake levels are hurting, most boat ramps are dried up and water temp hits 87 by may. Although crappie are amazing on phantom . My 14 ft jon is to small to fish slightly deeper open water with west texas wind. Im deploying over the winter to Afghanistan . Maybe next spring ill have a better boat to get deeper crappie

My niece is deploying to Afghanistan too. Abilene ain't that far away from the metromess, how about we pick a lake in the middle and fish it before you deploy or when you get back?

The real heat started a day or two ago here, the spring was a long time coming all wind and cool temps, then it was over fast. Crappie fishing here is tough and now the heat is on==ON and the fishing is even tougher. Back to Texas for me. wink

I think people get way to caught up on what is, or isn't shared on here. Or how someone else posts what they post. Nowadays, I pop on every coupla days, to 1.) waste time at work , 2.) make sure I don't have to defend myself, and my PFD expertise (Bobcat1), and 3.)take light-hearted shots at Stucky, Paw Paw (dwmoore) and Spags. If someone mentions me, and I don't respond, it's usually because I missed the thread. I've met some life long friends out here, and I've met some pretentious jerks out here. Stucky, Spags, Bobby and Paw Paw may have been on both lists over the last 5 years!

Used to read this forum constantly. Kind of a beating now to filter through the daily silly stuff.

I refuse to use Thump Bandits and Slab Buddies (both great baits) and it's all Ketchn's fault. (Pardon the name inversions.)

If you tell me I can't catch them with anything else I'll do my best to prove you wrong. That goes for gear as well. Some spokesmen just don't appeal to certain demographics. Can't win em all.

Yep, only about 2 or 3 posts in 20 is worth reading. I just skip over most posts. Actually, glad you started this thread and to see some of the responses. I was kinda feeling alone on that idea. cheers flag

If you are out here for real crappie info., it takes a little time to weed through the noise.
Check back and filter on some Ernest Paty posts for real information about crappie fishing. There are others, but he posts a lot of useful crappie info from his years... decades! of fishing and guidng.

Good luck and good fishing!
