+1.... A few good folks I met on here dont post on or read the forum for this same reason.

Well said Clay. I miss the old days for sure. I blame Barn Door Blake for starting it all. We still need to get another trip together Clay. You're a great dude.

I have just about given up on the "Crappie Fishing" forum for information. Seems to be centered on funny stories and inside humor. And I have only been here for a short time. I've started going to the other forums for serious fishing information. For example, "Mepps Technique" posts by Dennis Christian, on the "Whites-Hybrid-Stripers" forum. Straight forward, easy to read, and very helpful! Wished the "salts" of Crappie fishing would share their wisdom in such a manner.

You can filter out users if you want to. You can also search the entire history of posts on the crappie section.

*correction, no filter feature currently on this forum

I have just started Crappie Fishing this past year. I usually target and love to fish for Bluegill/Sunfish. thumb I have always enjoyed looking at the pictures of catches and reading the post. There are some super people who post on all the forums of the TFF and their hearts have always gone out to someone in need. Anglers who post will always come and go that is just how a forum goes. hmmm For me I just love seeing the catches, reading the post, and responding to a story or two. I also love putting a few catches up myself. fish

Yall can always do what I did and go out and buy your own paradise.
I own 2 OT Forums I pay for out of my pocket and they are both run to my standards.

Cephusjoe - you got it right. I, for one, have had a hard time catching limits lately. I've only been catching a few fish during most outings. So I haven't posted pictures of big catches. But then again, for me, fishing isn't about numbers or size. I just enjoy being out on the water with the endless anticipation of that next bite. But we are now also facing summer temperatures in Texas and to make matters worse the jet skis, tubers, skiers and pleasure boaters are out at the same times most fishermen have an opportunity to fish.

From what I saw this evening on the water the fish were in the same locations I found them last year but not as many. I told the bass guys I was fishing next to that I thought that either the fish weren't there or I just wasn't doing it right (fishing technique). Ended up catching maybe three dozen but most were dinks. Sorry but I'm not going to post about this evening's adventure apart from what little I'm mentioning here.

For those of you who want more information out of the forum. We'll I haven't been on here long enough to say whether the amount of "educational" material has declined. But I can say that since I've been on here. Things haven't changed. No one gives up the location, which is 90% of what you need to know in order to catch crappie. I still remember one of the guides posting about the fish being on timber on "lake x" in "y feet of water." Having been on that lake trying to figure out where and how to catch crappie I had a good idea of where he was talking about. Turned out that he told me where the crappie were without telling me. I've also noticed that the same questions are raised frequently so I understand why some of the old timers might not want to repeat themselves time and again. Short of them telling you exactly where to fish, I haven't seen many questions go unanswered. So if there's something missing in the crappie forum, post your question. Best of luck to all!

Clay, You hit the nail on the head. As you can see I don't post very often because I don't know it all like some folks. I use to really enjoy reading the post by our seasoned crappie fishermen and I learned a few things.
It would be refreshing to see factual information once again and in a form that actually made some sense when you read it.

and the remarks here show a real lack of what you had here
nothing new , same old same old
boring posts ,not much humor
most of it is inside jokes no one understands and information that would actually help people catch fish was in very small supply .
I came here and found ALMOST nothing that helped myself and piscatur ketch year round crappie
a few folks here were super , but the majority were way to caught up in the technical things and the want to be a pro thing
its a shame all are not welcomed equally here
but it is what it is and the answers to question show in very clear detail exactly what I am talking about

Well I will be honest and swallow my pride .. I'm still a rookie and learning myself .. I have learned a lot on the crappie forum and met some great friends like Texboxer and Tomas and leaning post .. I now make my own jigs wich Texboxer taught me .. Its a great feeling when you figure them out and ketch on your own jigs.. I don't post pics cause I'm still a Rookie at that too..LOL ...I guess I need to step up to plate and figure that out too.. I hope my spelling isn't funny and my Input made sence .. Gonna hit the standing timber and bridge Pylons in the morning at daylight on Lake Waco.. Report will come..
