I think bass really like the thump and flutter a wider body flutter spoon puts off. I also think the slightli slower fall helps in a way too.

Those are my go-to patterns right there... have a couple of each size (amongst other patterns of Thomas Cyclones), from the 1/16oz to the 3/8oz and consistently these spoons have gotten more fish in the boat for me and my buddies than any other spoons out there...

we usually just reel em' in nice and slow (reeling just fast enough that you feel it flutter), and that seems to be enough to get a bite most days laugh

Tackle Factory, Tackle Shack maybe? It's on the west side of 17 across from the turn to Pope's
The Tackle Factory is correct, if you're ever by there drop in and see Joe he is very interesting and full of good stuff. Oak Ridge has his spoons as well on the east side of Fork. His spoons are great and he makes a Killer jig as well.

I started using the new Brent Chapman Flutter Spoon by MESU bait company this year. I like the quality components they use on their stuff which on some spoons are lacking. MESU uses a brass blank with an industrial powder coating that has UV reflective properties in the coating. The brass is heavier than steel spoons (1.2oz on a 4.75 inch spoon) and it has good fall and thump. The powder coating will last much longer than lacquer coatings you find on other baits. I also like the extra split ring on the hook to help prevent fish from throwing the bait when they jump, and on the business end is an extra strong 1/0 Laser Sharp treble. The color I use most is the Silver Lode and all their spoons are 4.75 inches.

Most flutter spoon anglers have definite opinions on what they like in a spoon, the basic requirements are flash, fall/flutter, and thump. Just about all Flutter spoons will have some if not all of these in common with slight variations.
Most spoon anglers will not rely on any one spoon, just like a crank bait fishermen will not rely on one brand of crank bait. Angler opinions are built on success and on availability of product. The best advice anyone can give you is to just fish them, they are one of the most under utilized true lunker baits on the market. I fish them from 6 to 40+ feet, on bare bottom, in trees, rocks, docks ,day or night, on any lake, and at any time of the year.

Here a personal best for a client recently on the spoon! Not the biggest fish of the year on a spoon, but proof that it will work on any lake since this was not lake Fork.
