Last 7-8 inches of keel guard is starting to peel off the bottom of boat. It's 10 years old so no defect. Just normal wear and tear. I tried sticking it back to hull but I haven't found anything that will create a strong enough bond. Should I just take the whole thing off and attach a new one or does someone know how to re-attach a section of keel guard??? (JB Weld is what I used the first time with no success)

3m 5200 is the only thing I've seen work with decent results. If you remove it replace it with a spray on. We do a 6 or 8 ft. for $399.99. Gary 512 250 9000

to refasten the OP's go to academy and get a tube of marine GOOP, I will guarantee this stuff will hold it.

apply and spread it pretty quick, have some duct tape or some way to hold the guard up (you can do it by hand if you can be there for 30 mins or so), let is cure for about 24 hrs and your good to go.

I use this stuff for a lot on my boat and it is a major pain to get off if ya have to. excellent adhesive and sets pretty fast. dries crystal clear too.

Problem is you have already put epoxy on it, that needs to come off, or nothing will stay.

Yes to the epoxy problem. It's still on the exposed section of hull and makes it hard for anything to set. I guess I can try to sandpaper it off before I apply any of the above recommendations. And thanks for the idea on using tape to hold the guard in place. I actually tried to use my car jack to hold it in place which was good for the small area it touched but not so much for the outside edges.

Remove the old stick on version and get a spray on and be done with it forever.

I used a racheting tie down strap and 3M 5200. A word of warning on adhesives: waterproof and underwater rated are 2 different things. Unless the adhesive is rated fro underwater use I would not use it. The 3M workied good on mine until the whole thing just decided to disentegrate from age.

Forever is a long time. Is that the same armor spray that is on the trailers?

Spray on is a great idea and it looks sharp as long as you live within a reasonable distance of Austin. It would be cost prohibitive for me to drag the boat all the way from far North Texas to get the spray on done. At this point, my keel guard is still in great shape, it just needs to be re-attached. With a tube of 3M, tape or tie down, and a little elbow grease, that suits my pocket book a little better. And thanks again to everyone for the recommendations on the adhesives.

"NO QUESTIONS ASKED LIFETIME WARRANTY" Your right it is a long time ...but if it fails we will repair it or replace it. No, it is not the same material that trailers are sprayed with.

6 or 8 ft $399.99. Custom applications available by request.

Tracker, Austin. 512 250 9000

I used some liquid nail to tack mine back on and it seems to me working pretty good.
