Short pieces of angle iron held against it with ratchet straps, will hold the edges tight.

The 3M 5200 is the best thing I tried. It lasted almost a year but eventually it started coming loose.

Now if you just want it back going 100 percent, I'd make sure what brand you have and then contact the manufacturer. They all have life time warranties so you should be able to get a new one if you can show your old one came off.

My Hamby's light duty had come loose at the back end. I used several different goo's to attach, the 3M being the best but it still did not work permanently.
I contacted Hamby's and Roger Sutterfield and he sent me a new one.

The problem with them coming loose is taking it and all the foam backing and adhesive off your boat before you put the new one on. Its a pain. I used a heat gun and it helped but it still took hours to remove.

The time it takes to get the stick on versions off is the real problem. We have developed a pretty good process for removing the glue on ones but it still takes 1.5 to 2.00 hours.

Avoid the hassle and get a spray on.

Call some of the places locally that do the bed liners and see what they would charge to do an 8' by 6" strip on a boat for. Those places offer a bunch of different colors too if they can do it you might get a color that better suits your boat unless Black is what you want.

the marine goop is permanently waterproof after it dries, I have never used a better adhesive on a boat.
it will also stick great to the epoxy if you decide to leave it on.
I have used this stuff for about 5 yrs now and never had anything come loose or the product turn color (stayed crystal clear) even used it to glue some plastic cutting board together for a prototype I made and it held almost too good (had to take it apart to change it and it did not want to seperate).
