I use a Carolina Keeper. It looks like it's the same as the McKeeper unit and comes in red or clear. I use both but haven't really noticed any benefit from color.
http://www.basspro.com/Carolina-Keeper/product/23166/It's really cool because it replaces the swivel and you only have to tie one knot (the hook). You can change the weight position and thereby the effective leader length simply by squeezing the keeper with a pair of pliers and sliding it up and down the leader. If you slide it all the way down to the hook you essentially have a Texas rig.
I rig mine this way:
1) Slide the weight on the line.
2) Slide on a glass bead. I use red. Provides color and a clacking noise. The guy who taught me this said the noise imitates a crawfish.
3) Pinch the keeper to open it and slide it on until you're happy with the leader length. When you stop squeezing, the keeper will snap back and stay in place.
4) Tie your hook and put your plastic on.
5) Cast and catch a big fish.
The nice thing is you can easily change your leader length until you figure out what the fish want. Make sure you squeeze the keeper when you slide it or you'll knick the surface of your leader.
Give it a shot, you won't want to go back to the old way.
Here's another view and set of directions:
