Looking to replace my interstate trolling motor batteries.
Should I stay with interstate or what's out there now, they lasted 5 years for me.
Looking to stay under $250 for 2 of them, thanks.

The last two I've bought are Powertron. Mucho heavy, mucho lead, mucho reserve capacity, 220 min.
It is what I'll be using.

For those of us without a sweet bassboat, any suggestions for trolling motor batteries?

I have a nice minkota trolling motor, for a Porta-boat... I used to use an everstart, and it would last for about 4 hours of trolling... The issue comes from maintaining the battery... I would use a trickle charger, but the performance seemed to decline, and I would end up exchanging the battery at walmart for a new one because the batteries seemed to get to the point where they just weren't holding a charge anymore... anyone have any ideas on how I can do better and avoid going to walmart to return exchange batteries all the time?

I have had good success with my Champion Batterys, They were very fairly priced as well.

i personally like trojan batteries, they are the same used in golf carts, last forever, the one in my aluminum boat i use for starting trolling all day and it still holds a charge, best batteries IMO, current one is 6 years old, two i just bought for my bass boat last year are still good, never any problems, only downside is the price.....a little more expensive but not like an optima(junk imo)

Exide deep cycle from Tractor Supply. Phenomenal warranty and customer service. I had one after about a year not hold a charge very long any more, took it to TS (with receipt), they replaced it and gave me a new receipt with new purchase date marked on battery. The warranty started over. I thought that was unreal.

If looking for Exide, Academy has (had?) a sale on them right now and full shelves of all their marine models. (At least the new Frisco store did/does as of last week).
Not sure when the sale ends, so it might be done already, but they were good prices and great ratings. Only concern is Exide is currently starting down the bankruptcy trail, no telling what the future might hold, but... they are batteries.

Exactly!!!

I use them in every boat... Never very far from a Wal-Mart, I've never had any go bad in less than three or more years.

I ran ever starts for awhile... But I tell you out of probably 8 batteries I bought or exchanged I kept one for a long time... Most were bad before the end of warranty expired... Yes you replace them for free so some people say "well at least you got a free replacement" but the point is we or at least I fish every chance I get. It's really a headache to have to replace batteries all the time... Weather I have to buy them or not... For me the headache is when I'm at the lake and my trolling motor dies out after 1/2 the day... Man that upsets me... Maybe I didn't have to buy the new battery but it still cost me fuel going to and from a lake where I only got to spend 1/2 the time I was planning too...since I bought my ranger I haven't had a problem... (Not sure what brand batteries they are but I know they are not ever start) maybe it was my charger I know your charger has more to do with life of batteries then the brand most of the time...

So I guess what I'm trying to say is whatever batteries you purchase maintain them correctly and they will more then likely make you happy... I don't like running my batteries down till they are almost dead but after reading the above link I guess it's actually good for them every now and then... Good luck and sorry for the long read!!

I try to run mine down as much as I can, I don't like waiting to charge them back tho. I know too many people that wait till the go fishing and throw a charger on them the night before. I charge mine either before I leave the lake or as soon as I get home ...
