I've used Shimano reels for years and love them. A few years back, I bought two e series 200's, one 5:1, the other 7:1. These have become my favorites. I'd like to buy two more. Do I:
1. Search for used reels and hope they are ok?

2. Buy G series?

3. Try the Chronarch e series?

Appreciate the input!

Wayne

I find my Chronarch E to be identical to my E series Curados. Some will tell you they are better, but I can't tell a difference. They are certainly just as good. I have one G and I don't like it as much. It performs fine, but doesn't feel as solid as the E. I would go with one of your first 2 options. Hope this helps.

Some folks say that fishin on a Sunday is a sin, but if a fish bites my line, you know I'm gonna reel him on in!

I have a CHronarch e7 and love it.

I've also started picking up new and used Citica E reels and upgrading the driveshaft bushing to a bearing and supertuning them. Very smooth. They are just about the same as a curado e with exception to the handles. They perform awesome and up to par with my chronarch e.

I do plan on keeping up this trend )and also picking up some curado e's) because these are the best all around reels I've used.

I've worked on a TON of the Es and they are solid reels..
Not a fan of the G series so far..
If you can find an E go with that one..

There are a bunch of new and like new Citica e's on ebay. And like someone said they can be upgraded to be compareable to the Curado's.

how much does the citica upgrade usually cost and how much would it cost to have the ratio dropped down to 5/1 instead of the usual 6/1? and if so, can you direct me to a trusted name in the area?

If you can find the Curado E's get them. If not, buy Chronarch E's.

the new chronach E's are pretty much the same as the older curado e's. Too me the new G series reels look like an update citica reel.

The g series curado is not a bad reel, especially if u can find them on ebay for about 110 to 120 dollars. They just arent built like the e series and definitely dont fish as good as the e series

I'd buy used E series, should be easy to find good deals online.
