For those who don't know, Harbor Freight sells a 12-pk of various sized carabiners for $3.99.

Just for attaching gear. They aren't for climbing or lifting, etc

Thanks for the info, and good price. Normally you spend $3.99 for one of the large ones.

That is a sweet deal. I've never been over to Harbor Freight but people are always saying "you can find it at Harbor Freight". I need to get over there apparently.

Harbor Freight can be awesome IF your expectations are set appropriately.

I dont expect a $15.00 nail gun to last me a lifetime... I bought one there expecting it to work on a couple of projects. it worked fine for that and as a bonus it is still kicking.

Also HB is good for creative re-purposing. EX: I dont know if their $2.99 suction cup dent pullers are good for that purpose but they make great kayak loaders when glued to some pvc:

that is the best way to put it. there is a reason the tools there are cheap. go in understanding what it is and you'll never be disappointed in them.

Yes, the metal spring on those carabiners does rust. (faster than the more expensive ones I'm not sure?) I've still bought a few of those, cheap enough to replace.

I ran by to pick up a set to replace some that had gone bad from previous set. I'm gonna spray this set w/ wd-40 to see if that might help.

I picked up a set a couple of years ago about most of them are now broken. Their springs just break off.

For those of you interested in welding/fabbing your own stuff, the 90 amp flux welder is awesome. NEVER had a problem with mine. I weld up to 3/16 with it. Just buy premium wire like lincoln. For $100 plus the $20 insurance it can't be beat. I have had it for over a year and use it almost weekly at work and at home.

With the danger safely righted
