Thank you both for the location clarification. I will definitaly give it a shot. Maybe tonight if the weather straightens out.

Tightliner, offer will continue to stand, especially if you keep finding the fish!

Hey thanks CB. What rig are you using CB?
I am using a 3 way without a float, I am gonna try a Sante cooper style/3way rig next time. I also wasnt dragging my weight something to think about.
Im new to drift fishing so I still have ti find my mojo lol.

I had a slip weight and a 24ish inch leader. One with a small float on the leader, one without. I would drop sinker to bottom, then reel up a bit to get the depth I wanted. Neither worked for me but it was a first attempt.

My intentions are to go again this evening. I guess I'll have to get a cast net, that should be exciting in its own right! If any body wants to go let me know.

If you need a little help with your cast net, there are a lot of good videos on youtube.

So to those of you recommending between lacy point and Reynolds creek, how deep of water are we talking here? I think I was in the right area, the wind wasn't cooperating so I only made one pass with no luck, I tried to stay out where the water was about 13 feet. Should I be looking deeper? The fish I caught came from over by the old dam in about 35 ft of water. I like to think I would have done better, but my lack of ability with a cast net had bait limited.

My biggest problem with the net was trying to throw it from the boat. I ended up finding a small cove, beaching, and trying from the bank. My question about the shad, is when they are by the bubbles at the dam can you see the schools or do you just throw blind and hope for the best?

I have better luck throwing on the side of the bubble,my net want sink as fast when I cast on top of the bubble.May have to try all the bubbles ,sometimes they are at one or two and not at the others.Hope this helps.

Caught a 24lb blue near lacy point on a piece of rancid hotdog a couple months back.
