This is why I stay off the lakes and stick to mainly rivers. Too many idiots out there and I value my life too much.

Todd ... maybe this is it ... The problem I have found is PB consider me a real fisherman or something. We are so good that when I'm fishing a point they will come right up on me and fish because they know yakker's are so much better than they are.
This might be the weirdest, most pointless post ever. I am not against golf, since I cannot but suspect it keeps armies of the unworthy from discovering fishing

The problem I have found is PB don't consider me a real fisherman or something. When I'm fishing a point they will come right up on me and fish it like I'm not there. I don't think that's it. A lot of guys really just don't know. Let them pull up and share the water. Most guys in boats are good people no different from anyone here.

I've been in similar situations from the bank with Jet Skis. One was even inside a no wake zone. Brain not included with purchase of a boat. Have to agree with advice above. Grab your phone, grab your camera.

Group of punks tried to jump me once when i told their captain how I didnt like how he choose to operate his boat & that someone was gonna get Hurt bad Because of him. Aint but a few skiers and jetskiers out before 10am And most of them dont do it before or after dark either. The few that do R even Bigger nuckleheads than the others. real anglers are O F T E N long gone by 11:am. One Old timer told me to come early and leave before the idiots show up. Saw that same old timer pull his troll motor up then fire up his big motor while the bite was On!!! I asked him why he left later and he told me, its not worth what he has to put up with if he stuck around W I S D O M ? ? ?

I have only fished Lewisville once in my kayak, and I hit the water a little before sunrise on a weekday. I didn't have any issues with recreational idiots, but there were definitely a few remedial sandbass chasers.
This one guy would plow into the school every time the white bass started surfacing, and then scratch his head when the fish dispersed. It was actually pretty hilarious. He had a fishing pole in one hand and the steering wheel in the other.
Best to just stay away from places like that, unfortunately.

I had a guy harass me in my Jon Boat on LL. I called the GW and gave him the TX# and he said he would go to the guys house and write him a ticket. I had no video evidence.
As far as accidentally hooking jet skiers and PBers, I can't see how they would even have a case.
"He purposely hooked me when I rode by"
"Why were you close enough to get hooked?"
If you're close enough to get hooked by a fisherman, your boat is too close to theirs and you are breaking the law.

I would make sure they knew I was recording numbers/ taking pictures and that I was calling the Game Warden. If they hang around after that, just fling a plastic bat full of sour maze on 'em!

A boater would have a hard time trying to flip or swamp a kayak unless the kayaker was caught off guard and fell in, so the one's that are, know nothing about kayaks. I would have a camera and as they pass start taking pictures and get the TX number and call the GW. They should run for the hills once they see you using you're cell phone!
Just one more cast!

If you're close enough to get hooked by a fisherman, your boat is too close to theirs and you are breaking the law. Most likely both could/would be cited - boater for not keeping a reasonable and prudent distance and the angler for assault - of course, the proof of intent on the assault would need to be proven. Chances are the latter would carry a stiffer fine/sentence. I would greatly avoid escalating conflicts and exposing yourself to potential legal issues or putting yourself into harm's way. Photograph/video/document are your best friends.

In fact 9/10 times I'm the only one on the water unless I have a few buddies with me. One section I fish does kayak rentals, but even then everyone renting the kayaks are always very nice and friendly and usually ask me how im doing. Now I'm sure there are some rivers/section out there that may be jsut like the lakes but not any I fish!

Well I was planning to venture out a little more on LL this weekend.... guess I'll stick to the no wake zones. I've fished there for years without issue, but not from a kayak. On that note, are there certain areas of the lake that are better than others for paddling?

Apparently you don't know much about kayaks. If a big wake hits you just right it's very easy to swamp a kayak. Actually, you can even swamp a center console bay boat with a wake from a cabin cruiser if it hits just right. I have a friend who was fishing a local lake and this happened to him. He wasn't even anchored. Before he knew it they were all in the water.

I'll have to store the phone number for the game warden, TPWD and who ever else I can find just in case. I know that if I am in a wake zone I run the risk of getting caught in a big wake but I also know to stay clear of the areas with a lot of boats. FYI I was near the RR bridge on LL at Malard Park. LL as in Lake Lavon?
