I've had a few folks ask how I rig the drift socks. Don't forget this style and many others don't float, be sure to add one on since they sink quick
I also use a small clip on the end to slow me down a little more.

Academy in Arlington has the 36" for $14.

While mine are rigged similarly, the one difference is I split the float. Then I slide it onto one of the six straps. I close the float's slit off with either tape or a wire tie. By putting the float up so high, the chute doesn't sink hardly at all.

I also add a 'dump line' from the tab on the narrow end to the gathering point near the top. You can dump all of the water out instantly with dump line. I use a differrent colored line for identification. Regards. Rich

Sounds good Rickg. I prefer them to sink, but for shallow or stumpy areas that would work out great. I keep a couple of short noodles in the yak for those times.

I rig mine longer.

I like your idea of the extra clip to narrow the narrow end, too!

Try the dump line. It is a real help when you want to move out quickly.

I try to keep the tether very short.... because I learned to use a drift chute when I used my power boat. Long lines tangled in a 40 hp. motor prop makes for a sad day! Ha Ha Now-a-days, I often have a trolling motor on my yak. Same issue.

Drift socks are worth their weight in gold! I use it and my stake out pole everytrip.

I like the float idea. I was using mine yesterday but the wind died down and it was basically just hanging straight down under my yak.

I used mine for the first time today and I liked it.

I have a Cuda 14, what size do you recommend?

I use a 36" with my pa14.

The bigger the better I say. I use a 36" on my Cuda and slows ya down nicely.

I use a 36 with a float, a dump line and 6 feet of rope. I clip it with on the kayak handle or one of the pad eyes. Use it mostly when I'm on the coast but also when deploying jugs or drifting for sand bass , hybrids on north TX lakes.

A great tool for the kayaker. I use mine more then an anchor or a stake out stick.
